Thank you so much Liesl it was easy to follow as I am a beginner with water colour. I did like the smaller darker leaves you added on to the stems. For me it showed a connection of the stem to flower. Tell us how to angle the brush for the leaves was very good and I could see how your wrist was moving so thank you for sharing that tip too. I loved this one, Liesl. Simple and effective colours. I loved your comment about not painting too many leaves which is exactly what I did recently. Luckily, a relative of mine loved the painting and was really pleased when I gave it to her. I'll definitely be doing this one in some form, maybe with some purple added somewhere. It is so easy to get carried away with leaves sometimes…probably not only because they are fun to paint, but because there’s always that thought of… “it needs just one more!” 😅 I thought your painting was lovely though, so I’m not surprised your relative loved it! Liesl, I love your tutorials! Your soothing voice along with your beautiful piano pieces are so enjoyable! I have a question: What surface do you tape your paper to? I work on my coffee table so I have to have it covered in a tablecloth and taping paper to it just doesn’t work. The paper warps when the tape comes up. Any idea would be truly appreciated! ❤

You are so kind Lois. 🥰 I’m glad you are enjoying my tutorials! As far as the paper warping goes, I am just taping my paper down to a well varnished/protected wooden desk…probably not the best for the wood, but it’s been ok so far! 😅 And although it helps with warping, if I’ve used a lot of water on a painting sometimes they still warp a little bit. I personally don’t usually take the time to do this, but I know some people stretch their watercolor paper first before they paint on it to help with warping, (there are probably KZbin videos out there that show how to do that if you’d like to give it a try.) Sometimes it can help to paint a wash of water on the backside of the paper, then turn it over while it’s wet and then go ahead and paint the artwork on the front…again, I don’t do that very often, but it might be something to look into or try out. ☺️ Have a great day, and thank you for your support.
