@@roofpro7003 What steps should followed when laying down shingles and or metal roof. What is and purpose of ice shields?

@@joycedimaggio3816 I'm not sure if I understand the whole question but the purpose of Ice shield is to prevent ice and water from getting under your shingles in the most vulnerable spots. (Valleys, walls, pipes...) For example, the eaves of your house are the most likely to have snow and ice build-up because of the temperature changes within your house and outside the house. So this will protect against that. Without it, you will have all kinds of problems. It's also required by shingle manufacturers in order for you to get their enhanced warranty.

My house and my garage have that “fake” soffit vents. All soffit cavities are covered with soffit sheathing and those white vented soffit plates are just for decoration. I don’t have gable vents either. How many holes/what size should I drill.
