Another great video, Attilio. This one is near and dear to my heart. I’ve had a life long interest in photography, and our trip to Yellowstone last summer pushed me to get a DSLR and as a result I have discovered a passion. YES! The process, including discovery and exploring is just as important as the final photograph. BTW, love your take on Grand Prismatic Spring. Magnificent, isn’t it?

Thanks a enjoyable and useful video. Sometimes it's good to know that finding the "perfect " composition, taking the ultimate "photo" is not always the end result. Tha0t said sometimes taki g pleasing photos of adventure something to remind you of a life experience is nearly as important, at least for the amateur and traveler.

I loved this video. I visited Yellowstone for the first time about 10 years ago. The park truly changed my perspective of nature. Now, after watching you photograph some of the most beautiful places in the park, I want to go back and revisit them, this time with the knowledge and equipment to capture some of that beauty. I also agree with your assessment of the Shimoda 40L. It’s a game changer.

"You slowly seem to.... float away" is exactly what happened Attilio but it had nothing to do with getting bored. Your video's have a nice balance between dreamy music, beautiful landscapes and your calmness which is the perfect medicin to "float away" for a couple of minutes. As a beginning photographer, it's people like you who inspire me to go into nature. Where I live, it's flat and we don't have nature like that, but I try to make the best of it. For me Landscape photography is to slow down in a very hectic world we are living in. Taking a picture is not just capturing the spot but more to capture the moment with all its impressions like smelling rotton trees or fresh grass or to feel the moisture after a rain shower or looking to a sun ray behind the clouds to appear, etc. etc. If I do look again to my pictures I am instantly back to this moment which gives me a great releave! Cheers, Folks and enjoy. :-)

Sometimes I don’t get the image I am hoping for, but the experience, memory, hunt, the wanting to see something I’ve never seen before is really what I am after. Attilio thanks for the great video. I was just in Yellowstone two weeks prior to you. But I only had one day there and it deserves so much more. I also spent time at the Grand Tetons a few days prior to that. Incredible locations there. And then I ended my trip in California with visits to the Sierra Nevada mountains: Redwoods Natl. Park, Mt. Shasta, Mt. Lassen, Yosemite, Kings Canyon, Death Valley and so much more. But I discovered that its really difficult to plan such a trip and hit all the great places at the right time while the light is good. I think next time I will limit my trip to just one or two great locations and spend a week at each one. Give myself enough time to let myself feel the land and sky and try to understand what its saying, rather than running around like a idiot to 35 different locations in just a few weeks. In any event keep up the videos. I really enjoy them. And I enjoy your sense of humor too. We would probably like each other immensely.

Beautiful video. It makes me want to get out to Yellowstone, but it probably won’t be this year. I agree with you that getting out and exploring, hiking and finding the compositions and experiencing the landscape physically is what landscape photography is all about. Attilio, in my opinion your videos convey a sense of honesty and a truthfulness, to which I can relate to. I restarted recently my photography hobby, and have found that the process of taking a picture: before (all the preparation before going to the location) and after (editing in Lightroom) is more and more filling than the actual moment when you press the shutter button. Keep up with your work: its an inspiration!

I have read of 2 types of outdoor/landscape photographers. Hunter; you meticulously plan for an expected event-location for hoped for results. Or you may be a Gatherer; you take what nature gives you. The weather may change, the sun doesn't provide the natural light you want. Your videos show that what counts first is your positive attitude before you even go into the field. Thanks again.

Nevertheless , I started shooting many photos with a canon xsi, and putting them up on facebook. i was lucky enough to travel through yellowstone a few times,, and although i knew nothing, the majesty of the place attracted many positive comments on facebook. this inspired me to learn more, about photography, art, and post processing. i'm still grateful for those trips, which caused me to embark on this journey of photography.

You ask: Photography vs photographs? One is the result of the other. A study of light. You are a master and your videos are inspirational. I wonder about the question: Photograph vs snapshot? Where does one draw the line? An awesome snapshot may have a greater factor of luck. A photograph is the result of the intent and inspiration in the eye of the photographer.
