James King has heard voices for most of his life. For years he was able to cope. He studied journalism, and became a radio producer, but shortly into his career he had a massive breakdown.
He's slowly been regaining his confidence through painting. Now he's taking the first steps back into the workforce.

Great video James, well presented. I'm diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and suffer from anxiety so I could relate to what you were saying. It amazes me you can do public speaking so well with anxiety! good stuff. I've been well for about 5 years and now just starting to look at getting into a peer support worker role. Keep up the good work you're doing at changing minds and all the best for the future.

Thanks for this video. I have hardships now, and I'm doing my best. James reminds me that I can make it through trying circumstances. Just death of a father and paralyzation of my mother, has been hard, very hard. Never had this much struggle. Life was normal once. At least, I'm not on the streets and living under that bridge (27:00-ish). If James can "come back", then maybe, I can come back too. Thanks for videos like this ...

The voices are absolutely positively reality. I have heard them. They aren’t what we all think. No one recognizes or believes it but the visible world was created by the world we cannot see. Since the beginning and Adam we are born helpless and open to anything. Get alone, read the gospel of John,, surrender your life 100 per cent, trust GOD, wait, HE will give you what you need.

I just received a like on 12/22. And it may sound mentally ill but everyone has thoughts dropped into their spirit. There are only 2 sources and the source that caters to our ego and pride is the joker,thief, mocker, the god of this world. Comments, likes, and social media and the internet were like dumping a barrel of gas on a fire. Don’t patronize me satan.

I had psychosis hit me as quick as a slap in the face and wow i was in for one hell of a ride. I know mine was probably from past drug use possibly but when it hit me it was the scariest thing I have ever seen and or experienced. It lasted about two years and spent a month or so in the mental hospital. I couldn't even imagine having to deal with that for so long. It's so taxing on the body and soul. James is a soldier and hope his girl can stay patient with him when he's having rougher times cause I know from experience.

My brother is acting very weird he has gotten in fights at school because he says that people tell him stuff that they whisper and that he knows what they are thinking. When that people are sure they never tell him anything. Then at home he doesn’t sleep he says he hears stuff and that stuff happens at night so he doesn’t sleep at all at night he has a knife by his side all the time. He was at juvenile and I know that before going in to juvenile he was using drugs. I don’t know if this is happening because of those drugs. The weird thing is that he says “ everything is fine, nothing is wrong, I don’t know why you think something is happening with me” that scares me a lot. He thinks it’s normal😔 do you think this is a sign of psychosis?

Thank you so much for this. I am constantly looking for ways to better understand thought disorders so that I can better serve my community as a psych nurse (who happens to also be a psych patient). I have seen unspeakable pain, and I have seen unspeakable growth and healing. James, keep fighting. I will keep fighting too. Have you ever heard of intervoice? I hope you feel better. I went through the same thing and after you experience a phycosis and come back to reality it hits you really hard! For me it was getting the right medication. I was on ariperiprazol (don't know how to spell it) but it was awful it wouldn't let me sleep or rest or sit down and was unable to focus and made me suicidal. But I got the right medication and it balanced me out it's called quetiapine it helps to stabilise your mood too. Meditate, go for walks, run, bike, paint, do yoga, talk to someone about what your thinking

I have just started watching this. Just curious of this first guy(James) in the video smoked too many joints when he was younger. Apparently, some people can get bipolar or schizophrenia from smoking too much cannabis from a young age. Just curious if this has validity for some genetically vulnerable people?

I thought hearing voices was indicative of schizophrenia?
@JseRivs
@JseRivs 6 жыл бұрын
Hearing voices (and other forms of hallucinations) is generally known as psychosis, which can be its own set of symptoms/experiences apart from schizophrenia. For example, people like James experience psychotic symptoms co-morbidly with his depression. Other common instances of psychosis are cited from drug use, or during mania (e.g. someone with bipolar disorder on a "high" point). It's closely related to our dopamine receptors/levels.
