I loved Shirley but these interviewers are searching for something that doesn't exist. Odd women....

Douglas Thompson Strange woman indeed, but no surprise. She was never particularly pretty or gifted in a musical sense, couldn't dance either, so Hollywood saw no use for her once she matured. This obviously left her depressed, and from what I've heard, she experienced a great amount of trauma too as child. I can only imagine what this did to her psyche-- how would you feel if you knew you would never be remembered for being anything else but a child, no, a toddler star. I'm sure she repressed a lot to conform to what people expected of her. A shame.
