He actually requested a time after his surgeries were supposed to wrap up, several of his surgeries went longer than expected and the court called his case just as he was about to walk out of his final surgery of the day. His colleague was closing the incision, he was done, he just hadn't made it out of the operating room when they called him. He's tech illiterate and hadn't used Zoom, let alone been in Zoom Court, so he wasn't sure if it was okay to say "Your Honor, I'm a surgeon and a procedure ran long. I'm done but not out of the operating room, can I take a moment to scrub out, or can you call the next case while I finish?"

I saw a longer version of that video (or maybe it was another surgeon idk) and I could've sworn he was in the middle of plastic surgery not a more serious or time sensitive surgery that couldn't be rescheduled. I’m currently studying to become a nurse and although it’s not forbidden to tell off patients who deserve it (being racist, sexist, etc.), things like nurses hitting or hurting their patients happen much more often than you’d think. My instructor was telling me about when she was having a clinical study at a nursing facility with her students and every time this specific nurse would enter a room, you’d hear elderly people screaming because she would pinch them when they wouldn’t comply to her every word >:(

So I actually work in a warehouse making those industrial window frames in the last clip, and I work with suction cups like those on a daily basis, lifting sheets of glass ranging in hundreds of pounds as well as metal framed doors. (yes, those are suction cups they're using to lift a heavy piece of glass and metal like that.) I don't work on the field like those gentlemen but I do manufacture the frames they need. So, by what I could tell the machine was warning them of pressure loss early on and even though most of the time minor drops in pressure are normal as long as the machine compensates for it, you must always watch the pressure gauge to make sure you're not going to drop to dangerous levels. Also, you must maintain the machine itself by making sure the cups aren't cracked or torn as well as clean them to make sure the buildup of dirt doesn't interfere with the vacuum inside the machine, not to mention staying aware that nothing is under the cups and acting as an obstruction, ultimately causing a failure. Unfortunately most of the time workers tend to let certain maintenance needs go unchecked, they get complacent and take for granted the fact that the machine will always do its job. Fact of the matter is: you need to always be aware of what's going on with your machine, especially if you're lifting hundreds of pounds of material like that, no one will do it for you and most of the time you can't count on anyone you work with to do upkeep, in general just do it yourself and if anyone gives you lip forget em. At the end of the day you'll go home with your life, all your limbs, and no hospital visit. And that's all that matters. Stay safe people.

It actually looks like the suction machine was fine and still attached to the glass securely (until it shattered). Going frame by frame, it appears to have actually released the lifting cable from the machine. Whether it broke free or automatically detached it to avoid losing suction on the glass is something I'm not aware of, personally, but it definitely started sounding that alarm the instant the cable tension was lost suddenly. The person observing was correct in saying that the cable "was just about maxed out." If the cable itself had been poorly maintained or additional load were applied through horizontal loading, it'd be very easy to negligently overload the lifting cable. Practical Engineering just did a video on lift cables and a cursory overview of the kinds of stresses and failures they experience.

What I know still happens and did happen is that every corner you can cut you do cut, and you have either tacit or direct instructions from your supervisors to do so. Things like disabling safety switches and cut offs on tools to not wearing necessary safety gear like harnesses, helmets, steel toed boots, and the plethora of other PPE is rampant. For background situation on that hunting hound situation, check out the channel 'Gold Shaw Farm'. Morgan has a couple of videos up where he had to deal with hound hunters in and around his duck & goose farm. This tik tok he posted was showing this particular guy showing up on his property (and that guy Butch is a big guy in the hound world, apparently) after Morgan posted his first video where he had problems with another group.
@liriodendronlasianthus
@liriodendronlasianthus 2 жыл бұрын
There was also a separate incident where a group of people trespassed in the middle of the night. There was a teenager in the group who YELLED at him, claiming she "knew the law". Another farmer (not Morgan) commented on the video saying that they experienced something similar and the hunters claimed that they "can't control" the dogs. He shrugged and said "if your dogs can't be controlled, I may have to shoot them if they attack my animals". Then SUDDENLY they could call the dogs.

As someone form the UK, i am surprised the farmer can't just shoot the dogs on sight if they are killing farm animals. Farmers where do shoot dogs during lambing season (and they are pets). In the last OSHA violation, i saw something i've seen before, too many times. When something is falling LET IT GO. It is instinctive to try to stop it but you have to just let it go. I saw once just in front of me a guy slipping on some pipes laying on the ground (i told the guys to keep the pipes in neater piles just moments before, it was a loadout of a big arena show...) carrying aluminium framed deck that forms the stage floor and he tried to grab the deck before it hits the ground. He broke all 4 bones in his hand, thumb was saved. The deck swung from the other end, pivoting as the other carrier has not lost his grip, and the poor sods hand was crushed between the concrete floor and the sharp deck edge. And the mad lad picked up the 40kg deck and carried it to the pile some 30 meters away, came back and took his glove off.. the hand was black and swollen double the size. Took over a year to be rehabilitated and he never worked in the industry again, i hope he could still play guitar.. I also saw another accident that weekend, in the same exact position.. We were assembling the stage floor and one guy carrying decks above didn't notice there was a piece missing and he dropped to the ground, some 3m height and landed on his head, with the deck following behind, but he had some luck and the deck landed beside him. The deck could've easily killed him. The dude spent few hours being monitored and came back to work.. Amazing beast of a worker, i picked him in my crew for the season, i got a promotion to crew boss on that very same day, it was the last day of the tour. I had similar accident not long after but dropped only one leg in the hole and banged my groin nicely.. Stage building is not safe, kids.. It is safe now than it ever was but it still is not safe. I left the business just few months later, after another injury, and the worst thing was that the act cancelled the gig that earned me 2 months sick leave... It was the last straw. And no, i could not sue, it is occupational hazard that i was prepared to take and in the end, my own damn fault for not watching where i was going, doing something i had done dozens of times before. I was just lucky to get paid leave, as my calendar was empty near the end of that season. The leg that i hurt still bothered me 2 years later but is now fully ok. You have to let go when things fall, it is a universal rule, really. Objects in motion have multiple times the load from objects not in motion. A 10kg weight will have so much momentum that you will not be able to stop it once it start accelerating. You just can't, trust me on that. You can hurt yourself badly and worse, the weight might yank you off from otherwise stable platform, and now you are also falling. If you see someone falling, do not try to catch them unless it is a little kid. If someone is just about to fall, that is different from an object already in motion... You WILL underestimate the forces involved.

4:09 I watch his channel here on KZbin and currently those men have loosed their hounds on his property twice. Their dogs have no recall training and he has a farm with many small animals. Cats, a working dog, geese, chickens, ducks and of course he and his wife live there. There are many times where peoples hounds have killed livestock because of this issue. They use their dogs to tree and kill wild animals. That current video was them trying to kill his local black bear which has been around for a few years. It's honestly disgusting behaviour to loose dogs with no recall training onto someone's farm. Sorry guys but the world is overpopulated you can't just randomly hunt anymore. You have property lines now, that forest doesn't belong to you. Thanks for listening to my ted talk. I'm surprised and happy to see that you had his content in your video. If anyone is interested in wholesome farming content or learning how people go about starting a farm he has documented pretty much his entire journey on KZbin. Goldshaw Farm is his name here. :)

Okay. I am an avid hunter as well and I am in no means trying to be rude. But the hunter in question Butch was in the right. If you watch his other videos Butch is not the night hunter. Butch was actually being polite in informing the land owner. This is proper procedure. If Butch had not done the right thing in informing the land owner than the land owner never would have been aware of the situation. Also Butch did fulfill the request of the land owner. He got his dogs and left. Also at least here in Michigan that land owner was committing offenses while driving his side by side. He was using a main road, not wearing a helmet, and going over 25 miles an hour on his side by side. I am an avid hound hunter myself it is a wonderful sport that I am proud to be a part of. And I am here to say that Butch was trying to be as courteous as possible given the situation. Now the night hunters were completely in the wrong. When coming into contact with private property it is your obligation to inform land owners of any situation, abide by their requests as best as possible, get your dogs off their land , and after that you may not rerun that animal's track. This is not only law but common courtesy. It makes me mad that there are houndsmen out there who are like those night hunters and it gives the rest of us a bad name. This is a family tradition of mine and it is a very old form of hunting which requires commitment to you dogs and yourself. My hunting dogs are a part of my family and I hope that proper hound hunters won't get a bad name because of people like those night hunters. Also one last thing they do have recall training but how do you expect me to recall a dog who I can't get close enough for it to hear me?

As a former stage worker, I can tell you a bit about how it typically works. There are companies (light, sound, stage, video, wardrobe) hired to travel with the touring artist, though the touring artist has a tour manager who everyone ultimately answers to. Each department (sound, lights, etc.) is independent from one another and typically has one or two individuals managing their piece of the operation. The venue hosting the performance is obliged to provide local crew that assists setup, performance and tear down, as well as “rigging” (licensed pros who hang cables for all of the overhead steel truss work). The venue contracts with a staffing company to provide “local crew” labor. The staffing agency sends a local crew which is assigned into teams. Each production department is given a team of local crewmen. Stage malfunction would be the responsibility of the stage department and its tour supervisor (in my opinion) as that would be the person most responsible and intimately familiar with how those panels are to be installed and secured before the show performance. Even if his team of local muscle did it wrong, he must ensure that those mistakes are corrected. (He would then start pointing fingers at everyone else and I’m sure the finger pointing game would never end! These stages are often slapped together in about 90 minutes and accidents do happen.)

I have heard horror stories about HR managers in my Retail store over accidents or fights and they had to be present for 48+ hours. (I dont know if Osha or the company forced them but I would never want to find out). Just know if you cause an accident, you are hurting your potential health, job and the Health of someone not even involved. If your HR manager or personal are dicks than yeah they deserve it. Morgan!!! Goldshaw Farm!! 3:38 By the way, that man's name is literally Butch; Morgan wasn't quipping at him or anything. Also, Morgan, after a previous incident where some hound-hunters disturbed his farm at night (and I think they were even rude to him), had already started some sort of campaign (or movement or whatever) to assert property owner's rights against hound hunters in Vermont. Butch was (probably still is) the president of the hound-hunters association, which is why Morgan thought Butch showed up on purpose, and that's why Morgan was angry right away. Turns out it was just a coincidence. That was not the end of that story.

At what point does actions during a game become negligent enough that the defense would not work? Like say in autosports someone clearly tried to kill someone with their car, that would still be attempted murder, but where is the line? Is there any case law?
@Mostlyharmless1985

Well, in most autoraces, there are specific provisions about driving with gross negligence or danger. So, clearly trying to kill someone with their car would basically say "you aren't acting the the course and expectations of an automobile race." You would then be "trying to murder someone."

I've had sound tests done during my time working on aircraft and the noises were around 160 to 180db (yes, that loud) at the exhaust. This probably knocked their hearing protection off, resulting in trauma. I personally have tinnitus from very similar experiences.

That glass loft though... I hate it when site supers decide what cable is going to be used for a lift. They don't want to spend more on a cable than absolutely necessary, so they get the weight of whatever is going to be lifted and get the thinnest cable they can that is still rated for that weight. They never seem to consider things like rigging and dynamic or shock loading... I've refused to work on two jobs because of issues like that and threatened to sue for wrongful firing when they said I would get fired. Lawsuit chicken worked out both times and we got the proper cables. Turns out that defending against a lawsuit costs way more than proper cables. Both jobs went without a hitch and everyone was safe. I'm always the guy who demands things everyone else feels is a stupid waste of time or whatever, but I've walked off jobs and let people do stupid stuff only to later hear that someone I knew got hurt or almost did. If you are lifting or rigging, it's 1.5x rating for static loads and 2x for dynamic loads, with 5x rating for potential shock loads. Wind must also be considered additional load for large objects outdoors. Tether your tools if you are working on a tower or rooftop edge, I've seen 2ft long wrenches pop loose and go falling 8 stories to smash through the roof of a portable toilet. Paracord is cheap, smashed skulls are not. Safety cables need to be secured with rated fasteners to the main structure of a building. Hydraulic jacks are lifting devices, not holding devices; get jack stands or appropriate cribbing material and make it secure. Areas under and around overhead work or lofting MUST be cordoned off! Safety rules are written in blood!

I was on a construction job almost 10 years ago, and being an apprentice at the time, stuck on trash duty. starting from first floor of the 18 floor high rise. So I'm on the 16th story , waiting for the manhoist, the elevator on the *outside* of the building. the 3 sides not attached to the shaft of the hoist all could slide up, and I had noticed that tuesday that the door on the left didn't close all the way, about 5 inches from the floor. Not enough to be dangerous, but enough to weird me out. The elevator arrives and its the operator and another helper. I have two giant bins of trash and in the lift is a cart usually used for holding sheets of drywall, but this one they had stacked a dozen or so planks of thin cut flat sheet metal to be affixed to metal drywall studs to give them stability. The guy saw me with the bins, and went to move the dry wall cart out of the way for me but it *immediately tipped on its side and all the sheets of *6 inch by 12 foot pieces of sheet metal fell right through that crack in the door*. It was like raining guillotines. At the base of the lift, there's another cage door after the lift door slides up, a big ass steel cage door. The sheet metal sliced it off the hinges and it was bent in half. Mine you this was like a 10'x10' with 4" thick frame. I don't think anyone was really hurt or died, but I recall one of the guys laying on the ground holding his leg. What was off putting about it is if that had not happened, I would be at the dumpster throwing away those bins of garbage and 5 minutes later you could fit me into a meat pie. IF you see anything squirrley like that door that dont close right, think if a scenario could happen that could be catastrophic and bring it up to management. "What's the worst that could happen?" well, _it could get worse..and not only can it, but it probably will._ what was more shocking about that whole event is there was a lot of foilks showing up, owners, project managers, first responders, etc. etc. I didn't see OSHA once.

3:24... Yeah, if you specialize in something and an emergency comes up you come in because while there may be 20 other surgeons obviously if one surgeon does say thyroidectomies 5 times a day 4 days a week and another surgeon does say lung transplants 5 days a week, you would have your surgeon who does the thyroid surgeries if there is an emergency situation that requires the thyroid removed while you would have the one who does lungs every day if there is a surgery that requires an emergency lung surgery. Like yes there are general surgeons who did with a mixed bag obviously and can be used if the specialist is unable to come in, but in an emergency situation you would want the one most skilled for the procedure to do it because obviously you want the lowest risk in an already risky situation. And while yes he could technically say "sorry I can't do the surgery I specialize in today because I have court", I mean could you go in good conscious go "Hey patient who is having a medical emergency, just want to let you know that because I have court today your chances of having a complication are going to increase from 1.5% chance to an 4.5% chance tripling the risk because a general surgeon who doesn't do this surgery every single day is going to have to do it instead"... like yeah you can tell your work sorry I can't come in, but are you go to? My wager is his thought process was "I know I can't miss the court date, but I can at least over watch the general surgeon at the same time to be able to assist with my skills and knowledge to reduce the risk to the patient, he can do all the work but I can point out things I see to help him through the surgery I do on a daily bases that he only does once in a blue moon", so I think both the surgeon and the judge both had good intent, the surgeon overseeing his specialty in an emergency situation, and the judge allowing him to focus on his specialty without penalizing him for not declining the patient the specialized care required. I am sure he felt confident enough in both his knowledge and the other surgeons skill to follow his directions that he felt that he could do both at the same time.

As a hunter I am obligated to understand the laws of my sport and I do. There are others who don't and it upsets me as a law abiding hunter.

For the dog one; my state has laws dictating that if an animal makes a kill on private property unintentionally, it is legal to retrieve that animal as long as you do not touch that kill. I'm not sure how much this would apply in this case- this man's dogs should not be hunting though. He does not have good enough recall on them and they could end up getting hurt, killed, hurting others or their livestock or pets. It's just lucky none of that happened this time, it could have been bad if the guy filming had chicken or other small animals

(Longer comment but so worth it.) Texas game wardens and game laws in Texas are so valuable. The amount of people who violate these laws, some of the most common examples being people hunting on other people's land without consent or fishing without a license, is so high in numbers that there is an actual TV SHOW DEDICATED TO THESE VIOLATIONS! The show is so cool and is called Lone Star Law on the History channel. They are technically not all game warden footage but it is not much of the actual police footage since that footage is hard to leak out to the public because of possible trial cases. Check it out, see how you like it, come back to this comment, reply with your opinion on the show pls.

He should know property lines anyway and not allow his dogs on the property to begin with, let alone himself. He's full of shit saying he was just going to get the dogs, he was going to get that bear, on someone elses property. This why hound hunting should be illegal with GPS tracking to begin with, or the hounds should never be allowed to get beyond a few hundred feet away from you. Hounds can't read posted signs, humans can. Vermont has tons of issues with hound hunters, with hounds coming onto property and killing farm animals, killing pets, even attacking owners and children, due to their ridiculous laws allowing this garbage to take place.
