I ain't even going to front, the first time I took my 2 sons to see this parade I started crying. I grew up in Orange like 15 min from Disneyland. My mom and dad used to take me and my sisters damn near every weekend. Sat was DL and Sunday was Knotts. My dad killed himself when I was 11 so all those memories are all I had. I joined the Air Force and did a career. Ended up being stationed at Vandenberg AFB 2 hours north of LA. I retired and ended up staying here because my wife is from here. Both my wife and I are total Disney nerds. When this parade came back we took our sons. To see their little faces light up brought back all the happy memories I had as a kid before all the bad stuff. It was emotional overload for sure. Here I am, 6'2.230 both arms with sleeve tattoos, and I have tears running down my face. I got some odd looks for sure, especially when I recited the opening sequence word for word. I didn't care what people thought. This parade will do that to you. I get choked up even watching this video. Good times!

Fun story, at 0:02 on the right hand corner of the screen, that's actually me and my dad. (Dad in the red hat, me in the glow with the show ears right next to him) This was probably the single greatest night of my entire life. Being at the first showing of Main Street Electrical Parade in Disneyland in over 20 years was just an absolutely unforgettable experience. It's also especially important to me because this was the last time my dad went to Disneyland with me to date. It was one of my favorite weekends with him and I will absolutely never forget that incredible night. Thank you for posting this and reminding me of this wonderful experience. ❤❤❤❤❤

Yes indeed. I saw MSEP last year and I literally had tears falling when I saw the parade come down Main Street USA after 21 years. This was THE Disneyland I remembered and it prompted me to get an annual pass to see it again during its limited engagement. I hope returns very soon and next year with Star Wars Galaxy's Edge opening, it would be perfect.

I grew up with this parade, and was SO excited when it came back. I was right there near you on this night. Obviously didn’t know you from Adam. My parents had nothing growing up. Their goal was to take my sister and I every year on vacation there. We grew yp to this. Now we are holders for some years I'm glad they are bringing it back this year and we gonna take our mom. Bring this back in the future! WHY does only one park have this and it's in Europe?! At least switch it back and forth continuously between Disneyland and Disneyworld! There's a warmth and beauty to these type of lights, song, and choreography that the other parades still don't match up to in my opinion.

When I was a kid back in the Awesome 80's, a friend of mine lived in a big fancy house, and he and his neighbor decided to create a joint Christmas display covering both of their properties. They set up Dolby Stereo speakers in their yards blasting the Main Street Electrical Parade (The Baroque Hoedown) with synchronized lights. It was a very emotional experience, and to this day that piece of music will always remind me of Christmas time. That, and Mike Oldfield's entire 30 minute Side-A recording of Tubular Bells, which I first heard, not as the theme of The Exorcist, but laying on my buddy's floor in the dark and looking up at his magnificent Christmas tree (his parents actually gave him his own fricking Christmas tree in his bedroom). So now Christmas isn't the same for me without the music from Main Street Electrical Parade & Tubular Bells.

One of my favorite memories was when the Cinderella coach passed by the Prince just happened to be facing my way. I enthusiastically waved at him. He locked eyes with me waved back and winked at me. I was like only 16 or 17 at the time.

Great video. I loved the perspective of seeing the parade coming out of the gates! I especially enjoyed watching how the performers/dancers preceded the America float, coming out first in formation, then flanking the sides and then falling into position as the float moved. Nice choreography.

They used to play the same music along with the Electrical Water Pageant at Disneyworld in the 70’s. I used to always enjoy watching the floating barges with the dragon and porpoises in electric lights. Super cool!!!!

Its good to see the parade back at Disneyland, but it just does not feel right with tinker bell in the middle of the parade. She should be leading. With her in the middle, the story of the pixie dust and how it starts with her and then moves through the parade connecting it all together doesn't make sense. Thats why on her unit, the pixie dust starts behind her and slopes down to ground level to move through the rest of the parade.

BTW the pixie dust trail is still here. if you want Tinkerbell to start the parade. do it like the parade of dreams with her on top of the train.

I've sometimes wondered what the participants in the Disney parades do the rest of the day. I've heard that all they do is parade oriented things. I've also heard that half the staff take part in the parades. They do a great job.

A ride operator on splash mountain showed us his part in the parade. He couldnt tell is who he was but had a very awesome dance. 😃 I think the parades are a shared responsibility.

I was 18 yrs old visiting the park 1 day. I met this 14 year old guy who had walked away from his party. We met up with my sister after we got back across the river from Tom Sayer Island where we had met. Later the 3 of us were on Alice in Wonderland ride while the parade just started. We came out on the top.level and the blue fairy was no more than 10 feet away. We waved at her she waved at us and the ride took us back inside. Fun night, this guy acted like my long term boyfriend for the 6 hours we were together. Yes we did keep.in contact after that night and yes I did see him again.
