I give lessons in how to use phones. When I get a call, I ask the caller who they're calling. If they don't know my name, I inform them I'm on the National Do Not Call Registry, and I hang up.

The irony is that now it is possible to answer a telephone too promptly. The idea is that if you call a business and they answer too quickly it will catch the caller off guard. Today you should let the phone ring once or twice before answering.
