i changed my last belt at about 7000kms- it looked 90% ok- next time i go for 10tsd !!- i only use orig arctic cat belts- and i always have a spare with me ;-)- btw i see also at the new alterras you have to remove a lot- thats bad ;-)

Yeah all the atvs you have to remove the footwell, the prowlers just have the engine cover, while the wildcats are pretty easily accessible.

None of my screws seem to fit to release the belt.

To clarify, everything I have watched, read in my maintenance manual, and historically with my KQ, is that you use a cover screw to span the sheeve. My cover screws are mostly shaft with only 1/2" of thread. The shaft is too big to use to spread the sheeve.

The manual says to use the cap screw from the tool kit but I’ve always used a clutch cover screw from an old project since I have them. A 6mm screw from the speed sensor would also work. The Alterra/XR has collared screws that don’t fit.

@@ArcticFrost I'll have to call the dealer, there's never been a cap screw in my tool kit. The belt looked pretty good anyways for 3000km. It would sure suck if I were in a situation though

@@ArcticFrost so apparently there is supposed to be a screw in the Toolkit because they changed the bolt to a type that won't work as I mentioned. It's only $2, but should anyone else find themselves needing one, I've been sent part number "8020-045 screw, cap" and it has a nyloc nut included.
