Good overall tips. I've probably been riding longer than you and here are my thoughts... - The boots featured in this video however are very inadequate- ankles could get crushed in soft boots. They were basically tall sneakers- with a high, waterproof upper. You absolutely need proper, rigid riding boots that come up to just below the knee. - Don't advocate for cheap gear "my chest protector weighs less than a pound!" Proud of that? Encourage the use of the very highest quality gear. Shoulder protectors and knee pads would help too. Any leather gear would be ideal- or full ride outfit with built in pads. - Great visual with the pumpkin- very true. A helmet can protect a person from a skull fracture- sadly, they do almost nothing against a concussion/mTBI's. Still it is vital to wear one. - You failed to mention spine protector- critically important gear (CE level 2 is best.) - To tighten the wheels- you should use a torque wrench and always tighten to spec. - The GOLDEN RULES tips provided a nice summary. Add one more- always ride with a buddy. If a heavy ATV rolls on you, it's easy to get pinned and you will need help. Thanks for sharing- we need more quality safety videos like this one.

I always wear dirtbike boots when riding. been riding for over 30 years, and it can go south when you least expect it, no matter how careful you are

I just made a comment about boots too! I had an eye opening experience. I was lucky? Smart? I bought my gear based on what the untouchables wear and it saved me from getting my leg broken!

@@briangillman735 Great. The best tip to 100% guarantee no future ATV injuries is to stop riding. I ride UTV's with a rollcage and seatbelt. You can rent them were we ride out in Moab, UT. If you have never been before, you will very definitely want to check it out. We have been 6 times. Also, watch videos on the Hell's Revenge Trail. ~500 sq. miles of riding out there. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYqvkpiNd6uAsKM

Good advice, out of all the times I’ve rode an ATV in the past, nobody has once told me about shifting your weight, now that I know more about bikes in general I know this now, however I can see why this is overlooked a lot since ATV’s are such heavy vehicles, you wouldn’t naturally assume your weight makes much a difference.. but oh boy it does.

Last year I bought my 1st atv...can am outlander max 1000. I bought my gear based on what I saw the pro guys wearing so I'm going to tell you about boots! You want motocross or hard plastic Enduro boots. I hit a stick on the hatfield mccoy trails in wv that broke in half an kicked out right across my shin. If it weren't for the fly racing maverick boots I was wearing....I would have had a broken leg! So spare no expense on your gear. $120 to $350 + for a pair of boots is nothing compared to the expense and time and pain it would have taken to heal a broken leg from a stick about 15 inches in circumference.

I’ve been trying to get more extreme with my atv but this video saved me I flew off but I put on long sleeve shirt and pants and gloves and when I landed on the ground I landed on my hands and legs but they were protected and there was no injury thank you

You got lucky. Don't get extreme- the ATV will ultimately win. See my post above. One bad fall, even from low speed can kill you- I have seen it. I have been riding a long time. Now I ride UTV's (slow) w/doors and a seatbelt! Once you have injuries you realize, you don't want any more!

This goes to all quads but mostly utility quads, us sport drivers don’t go through water. But I will admit we go 45 on trails, do wheelies and jumps, we drift, but I’ve been a ride since 2006 so I know the basics of sport. Not so much utility vehicles

This was ..... How the heck did the human race make it this far? All of this is common sense. Have been riding bikes & 4 wheelers since 1993 and was just looking for any new laws I may not be aware of.

Tip for tracker atv’s. Speed up as fast as you can and drive straight into a lake because tracker atv’s are trash.

Trackers are Arctic Cars with a different sticker. Nothing wrong with them. My 700 is my 2ns ATV used less for guests, kids, and when I want to use less gas than if I took my 2-up 850 v-twin. In 5 years I e. Hanged 2 shock bushings ($16), at 5500km changed the suspension bushings ($150), and 1 belt becausey son was trying to be cool. The engine is very reliable and all intakes are factory snorkelled to the pod. Making it zero worry for water crossings and trail floods after a storm. Unlike the other ATV's I own and have owned. Polaris, Suzuki, and Kymco. My friend has a Honda one year newer, had it in 13x, Honda literally taped a giant analyzer module to her pod for weeks. Then still had no clue how to fix. Finally they replaced it 3.5 years after the first complaint. I'll stick to my reliable AC.
