Before I ever tried it I would not have believed how seamless it works. We have a Polaris XP with EPS coming to test as I hear those units are more like what we'd expect from 'power' steering - easy working and no feel.
@ATVTVCOM15 жыл бұрын
Keep in mind that there are various types of power steering units - the ing Quad and the Grizzly operate almost invisibly and are actually (in my opinion) more of an asset as a steering stabilizer rather than as 'power' steering. Plus, power steering allows a much better caster angle thus better steering stability without adding a lot of effort to the steering at slower speeds.
@1robdavidson11 жыл бұрын
I bought one of these with power steering back in 2010 , this thing is a freaking beast ! The tires sucked so I changed them to Kenda Exexutioner ( stock sizes ) it has done everything I ask it to do . Even pushed out a buddy's stuck 1994 f150 !
@ATVTVCOM14 жыл бұрын
@NILSATISXAVS Yes. They are available with power steering.
@ATVTVCOM15 жыл бұрын
Actually that's the beauty of the Suzuki (and Yamaha) power steering systems - they are not over-powered. Although they make the steering easier it is a very natural feel, unlike EPS units like on Polaris ATV where they are too easy to move and have very little feel.
@ATVTVCOM15 жыл бұрын
The King Quad with EPS would be my first choice. When equipped with power steering the caster has been increased and fixes the handling glitch that I didn't like on the previous models.

@70sonicboom The way to really know is to watch our reviews we've done of the Outlander. It's a very nice machine but several 'key' issues that keep it from being as good (for us!) as the KQ, Grizzly, and Brute Force. Such as single lever braking, bad rear wheel brakes, no locker, runs warm. But we love the suspension! No test forthcoming on the 1000.
@ATVTVCOM13 жыл бұрын
@70sonicboom Thanks....One problem we have is we just don't think anyone needs a 1000cc ATV - even an 800 seems like more than adequate. The only time we've ever even used all the 800's power is at high altitude in deep snow.
@GoinDownhill36113 жыл бұрын
@ATVTVCOM Yes, they'll be on the stock rims. I'll keep you up to date! Thxs a lot!

In my opinion the 450 (2007) or the 500 (2011). I actually have both, and they both are better than any polaris, yamaha, or honda i have ever ridden. For some reason the 450 has more speed than the 500, but the 500 has extreme pulling power. I was actually pulling around old trucks and cars the weight about 3000 pounds the other day. I just put it in low range and 4wd and the 500 showed no sign of weakness.

@989kriss A smooth running engine and transmission don't transfer nearly as much vibration to the rider. Much like a smooth running car compared to a rough running one.

@as140672 The A is for automatic, the X for independent rear suspension, and the I for fuel injection. Or so we think ;-)

@ATVTVCOM Too bad. I was looking forward to an unbiased report on the new 1000. You guys aren't afraid to say whats good AND bad about a bike. Anyway, it sounds like the new Outtie still has all the same problems you mentioned except for the lockers and running warm. Apparently, they have now doubled the radiator size and coolant and are putting the Visco Lok QE diff lock on the new bike. And that suspension you liked is now even better with a new frame and geometry. Tough choice now!

It certainly adds money, but very little weight, and is not what you expect in the fact that it takes away the feel. You do not even notice that it has power steering - it's just more like you have a bit stronger arms. There's still plenty of feel.

@Knox48x They are both made by companies very dedicated to quality.

@beachamboys11 This or the 500. We never lacked any power on the 500 except in DEEP snow. They are both the same frame so the only difference is the engine size and power.

@989kriss The Polaris probably will tow the most and tow it the easiest. Because it is the heaviest the trailer will affect it the least.

Why is the towing capicity lower compared to other models with even with half the engine size? And do you know if the 2010 line up includes a V-Twin?

@ATVTVCOM I've noticed on your shows how you lean towards Suzuki. I started out on Suzuki ATV's way back in the 80's but I'm looking now at Can Am's. What's your opinion of the Outlander? I live near the Paiute trail and do Moab a lot too. Would the KQ be better than the Can Am for me? Also, when can we expect a review of the new Outlander 1000cc XT? Thanks.
@BKH4612 жыл бұрын
I have the 500 and it is a very good machine, lots of power (i can pull about 2500 pounds with little struggle), and the power steering isn't needed in my opinion, you can tell the difference. but it is very unpopular and hard to find add ons like lift kits and snorkels. Thats the only problem I have with the 2011 suzuki king quad 500axi

@burgerboo1 The KQ gets better mileage, is smoother running (taller geared), but although not as powerful as the Brute Force I don't think it lacks.
@sleepwalker211213 жыл бұрын
@burgerboo10 I own a 2005 kingquad 700, wich is similar to this one, and my friend owns a 2006 brute force 650. I tried both on multiple occasions and we raced a couple of time too. The brute force is ''a bit'' more powerfull and feels more ''stiff'' but isn't way faster than my kingquad. The Kingquad has a better overall feeling IMO, smoother and more balanced. Of course this is my personal tastes on similar, yet different models. Both are very good atv. I hope it helped!!

Hi, Doug! i own a KQ 750 which soon will need a tire change. I want to put in it something better than the stock Dunlops, and think on the ITP's Holeshot ATR, because of what you said about them. What do you think?Any suggestions? I usually ride in grassy trails, some mud and wet rocks, with frequent tarmac liaisons. Regards!

No. To me the power steering applies to a totally different market then true enthusiasts. I personally love to feel everything that's being thrown at me and that's part of the challenge/fun. The power steering is more for the cruising and touring market than the more "hardcore" guys. That's just me though.
