i was in high school when i started watching atwt in 2009 just as the show was ending. i hated katie so much and it's ironic seeing what a great couple here parents were. one of the best pairings in the show's 50+ year run imo.

I love them together. I hated when Casey died. Bill Shanks played that role so well. I wished that he could have stayed on the show until it ended.

josh in general was just gross, always talking about he had a "right" to be lily's father ugh. soaps do rape storylines all the time but everything surrounding lily's biological parents was up there with some of the most bizarre and uncomfortable. especially with how they eventually had lily accept him. yeesh.

Unfortunately these things really happen and it's nice that they could actually tell a story and have people understand what happens in this vicious circle of abuse. I'm glad As the World Turns had enough courage to tell a story like that. Incest happens all the time in today's world unfortunately and the people that either get raped or forced into a life of prostitution need their stories to be heard. I especially liked the scenes where Josh was talking to Mrs. Michael's students. I cried my eyes out and it was really sad. A lot of people get beaten because that's what their parents do to them. If the wife gets beaten sometimes she may stick up for the children sometimes she may not so she doesn't get beat. It is a vicious vicious cycle and if anyone can break that cycle by explaining why the abuse happened admitting that the abuse happened in trying to understand the rage that is behind the abuse, I'm a firm believer that that person can then accept what they did understand what they did feel remorse for what they did and to move on. A lot of victims of abuse become abusers themselves so if you can break that cycle I am all for telling an uncomfortable and disgusting story to get the word across to people that there is help out there and it's not your fault as a victim as long as you don't become what you hate the most and that is an abuser yourself. It's hard not to feel sorry for Josh because he made one mistake a long time ago and he's been paying for it for a very long time and now he's starting to understand why and where the blame lies and he is taking full responsibility and feels regret for what he did and he knows that it was wrong which is something he could never ever do before. Don't mention Josh has never been sexually with another woman since he raped Iva. That is huge. He made that decision on his own. So how old do you think Josh is here? That is a very long time to not know what it's like to be in a healthy relationship not know what it's like to be gentle with a woman not know what it's like to have someone care for you and love you just because you're you. He has probably never hugged another human being either. Think about what that must be like? You make one horrible mistake and you try to rectify it the best way you know how with no education and no one telling you what to do. No matter how many times he gets beaten up it's hard for him to fight back although he has in a few scrapes fought back and good for him. Emma Asked Josh a very important question. Nobody wants you here you know nobody wants you here you make everybody feel uncomfortable if people keep beating on you or whatever why do you keep coming back for the abuse ? Why do you keep coming back I don't understand.?? Josh simply said " because your family and I love you." That broke my heart. It's exactly like what a beaten animal does. No matter how mean you are, no matter how much abuse you give that animal, it will always come back to you and give you unconditional love. That's the part that breaks my heart. I give kudos to ATWT for telling the most gripping and realistic stories about drinking alcoholism drug abuse teen suicide rape incest and for some reason all the women in Oakdale Illinois want and love a criminal like James LOL

I never thought about it before but somebody else made a comment ones that they were trying to make Lila another Gloria Loring like over on Days of Our Lives but it didn't work out in the same way for Lyla.
