It's incredible how this show reveals how actresses (and actors, but to a lower degree) are some of the most disciplined, rock-hard willful people on earth in terms of composure, somewhere there with top athletes, special ops soldiers, regiment-level officers, and line producers. I'm saying actresses because there's so much more scrutiny on them and it shows in Hot Ones: like the episode with Natalie Portman. It's like the tales about a dude holding their hand over a burner and reciting his oaths, it's visible how they invoke their practiced poker face and answer questions while crying and snotting, with the body language of someone attending a light soiree.
@ayebraine3 жыл бұрын
@brandonsean123 I'm sympathetic to military wanking and "thank you for your service", but that's exactly it. I'm not American, and though I respect the wildly elevated place military servicepeople have in your culture, it's not universal. Nor is the love specifically for American service members, who I guess you mean by "our".

I think the thing I find more noteworthy to me about Aubrey is the aloofness, the dry wit, or the eccentricity is the sharpness. She is always watching closely and reading the situation intently. There's a palpable sense of a deep intelligence, one that gets bored with the ordinary, and can be flip to make their own fun, or just weird to see what kind of reaction she can get. A lot more is going on in her head than what is being said. My favorite kind of people are puzzles.

Sean is pretty much King of reading the interviewee and reflecting back what they give. It's an interesting gift. Because the guests are basically being low key traumatized they interpret his reflective mimicry as bonding (not precisely saying it isn't, just saying it's calculated), and become far more intimate and receptive to the interview in a very candid way. Trauma bonding is a trip.
