Aubrey Plaza reveals that she’s actually trying to “act normal” during her viral talk show interviews but always end ups acting “awkward and weird”. She explains why late night interviews make her so uncomfortable and why she’d rather humiliate herself instead of being fake.

I don’t know about you guys but she seems to have gotten a lot more comfortable in interviews over the years with more experience. She seems a lot more capable of plugging whatever movie or project she’s promoting without feeling weird or “fake”. Who do you think interviews her the best? When she started out in her early 20s she was entertaining but visibly nervous on Letterman (which is understandable since he’s intimidating to a lot of guests). Her handful of Fallon appearance were not great and she was on Conan way more than any other show (he’s good at matching her energy imo). Colbert seems to be the second best at interviewing her? In any case, it’s always entertaining and funny watching her despite (because of?) her nerves, which makes her even more endearing to me.

You’re correct. Conan and Colbert can improv with whatever happens. The Off Camera interview with Sam was also well done. He got good information, but it was less about comedy.
