Have You Ever Felt Jealous? Watch This

I often share the story about the first time that Whitney took another lover. I didn’t know if I should punch someone in the face, cry or vomit...repeatedly. A lot of people can’t quite comprehend why I would put myself in that situation, wouldn’t it be easier to be monogamous? Open relationships have never been about hedonism, they are about an ideal. They are about truth and freedom. Which are both synonyms of Love. There is no greater example of this ideal than in the utopian society envisioned in The Fifth Sacred Thing by Starhhawk. In this week’s AMP Books I share the contrast of how most of us currently look at our lover’s other lovers, to what it might be if we had the courage to reframe sex and sexually history into something we could be grateful for.

The breakdown of duality at the same time as the widest division culturally in our lifetimes (at the same time in the US that so many people are not able to write or think critically and this is being replaced by technology run amok)? A few weeks ago I said to my pregnant partner, half in jest but also in seriousness as it actually maxes sense, you should be thankful of my ex partners as the reason I’m where I am today is because of what I’ve learnt from them (amongst other life lessons amd I’m very grateful for both the relationships past and present). We talked about it for a while as something we never think about and how much it resonates with us both. Then low and behold this pops up on my KZbin feed. The algorithms were either kind to me, phone is listening, the universe wanted to share something or a little from columns a, b and c.

Good analysis! Appreciating the past is a way to make sense of the present. Accepting all past relationships is fine, it’s pretty much like connecting to collective consciousness which I made a video about. However, dealing with cheating in the present relationship is a different story, but yeah I agree that each response depends on cultural conditioning.

This is a conversation I struggle with. Why not be able to have as many lovers as you’d like? The negative consequences of having a child with someone else you may not be compatible with as parents, the question of our desires and not having the will power to refrain from it. Then there’s the being present, loving and enjoying it, sharing our god given free will to embrace in a moment of euphoria. I personally feel I don’t mind where you’ve been when I meet you but if you leave me for somebody else then there’s no coming back from that for me. I think a sense of self respect may be to blame for that of my personal ideal. Also on another note, using instincts and past conditioning are really just excuses with both sides (monogamous and totally free and open).. I guess it comes down to is i have reason to believe that the reason there is “cheating”, people being in open relationships instead of being monogamous is because we have a fear of missing out and desire to fill our boredom with instant gratification. We could learn it’s a bad experience or a good experience by having new partners.... anyways, I believe in choosing good enough, growing together with 1 person and seeing where it goes together exclusively. Just my ramble.

My grandparents have been married for 60 years. My parents for 30. It seems like a radical idea to give up on the idea of monogamy. I wish I were woke enough to do so because I feel it would spare me pain. But I'm not to that point yet and I still wish for a lifetime exclusive lover. I want to believe I am capable of being that for someone else.

Id rather have a partner for every day of the week than a lover with a lover lol wth. Im not investing time and energy into that again. We can get close to utopian with automation, perpetual energy devices (non neuclear) and a change in the average citizens of earths life style. Including mine.

@11:22 that’s one way to look at it, your lover having a large body count isn’t always a good thing. It’s been shown that men aren’t as affected by casual sex as much as females are. They emotionally bond to the man their sleeping with and continually breaking that bond has a detrimental effect on the female psyche and emotions. Instead of having a female that slept with half the town in order to grow, wouldn’t it be much more meaningful to grow emotionally, sexually, together? I look at as though you’re committing to buying a car, you want a car that is all used up with high mileage? Or do you want to enjoy the journey of experiencing those miles together?
