Auckland (New Zealand) VS Sidney (Australia)

I live in Sydney and have been to Auckland. Honestly if there is one thing Auckland wins is their road maintenance. Beautiful smooth roads no matter where I drove. But here its pot hole city.

Incorrect. In terms of earnings, opportunities, networking.......Sydney wins. I’ve lived (that’s lived, not visited) in both. I prefer Auckland, even though it’s smaller, lower grade of public transport, less opportunities, lower pay. But geographically, far superior. Twin coasts, and an all around more beautiful setting. Yes Sydney rocks if your young, but then we all grow up and priorities change along with needs and outlook.

As a kiwi I must say Auckland doesn't event compete with Sydney or Melbourne. It maybe competes with Brisbane or Perth

Yes those cities are much closer in population and development to Auckland. Auckland is 1.6M, Adelaide 1.3M, Perth 2M and Brisbane 2.3M. Therefore Auckland is closer in size to Adelaide and Perth. One day when Auckland reaches 4 to 5 million people, it will be comparable to Sydney or Melbourne. By then New Zealand would have experienced a lot more growth and expansion too. The world will be an interesting place y then

Brisbane is very close to Sydney and Melbourne already. Adelaide is so small and might not even as good as Parramatta!

@@MrHaydenhoang Adelaid I've always thought reminded me of Wellington just a little bit bigger. Parramatas skyline has seem to come out of nowhere. The high rise development there is impressive possibly comparable to Aucklands.

Sydney public transport is cheaper than Auckland! Sydney has excellent double decker train service. However Auckland does have good beaches (Takapuna/Mission Bay). Sydney has a way better aquarium at a fairer price. You get paid higher wages in AU than NZ. Sydney people are fine.

Auckland is a much smaller town of 1.6M, it is set to reach 2 million by the decades end. And almost double by 2050s. I'm sure by then Auckland will become a much more vibrant and exciting global city.

Apples and oranges. Auckland is a lot smaller than Sydney. Both great places in different ways. Sydney is buzzing and vibrant with great beaches and better weather than Auckland. Auckland is unique with the wild black volcanic beaches to the west, the beautiful and sheltered hauraki gulf with dozens of clean quiet beaches and islands. Auckland has beautiful accessible green space.

I think even if you compare both cities as is Auckland is generally (depending on needs) a better place to live even comparing as is. But if you compare proportainaly (eg you take a 2/3rd's of sydney's infastrucutre and population etc away) it then cannot even compare in my opinion.
