I learned to drive (and pretty much grew up with) on my mom's '12 SX4 (with a CVT) and the only con of owning it is the fact that the parts became SO expensive due to Suzuki not selling in North America anymore. If it hadn't been for that, I think I would've asked my parents to buy it from them instead of looking somewhere else for a used car. It hasn't left us stranded ever since it was bought new in 2012, and while the CVT wasn't fun to drive at all, the engine sounded pretty amazing for a compact economy car.

Better buy the Suzuki Swift. It has the same (if not in some cases even more powerful) engine and the same drivetrain, combined with stiff suspension. And is also much more lighter (it is just around a ton), better handling and has a stiff chassis. Just make sure you are buying the Japanese or at least the European (Hungarian, I think) version.
