Great help tutorial. Others tell you how to delete unwanted audio around a track you want to keep. This video easily shows how to simply extract the audio you want from the original file.

Hello, great tutorial, I have a long recording, 3 songs within this recording, I want to break apart each song as mp3 . How to do this? My goal is to burn these songs to a cd so I can listen in my car. I want to be able to skips songs in my cd. Yes, the long recording is coming from old cassettes tapes, or there is anyway in audacity to detect each song of this tape and separate them automatically as it records within audacity??

I'm using a Behringer UMC204HD digital interface for 2 dynamic mics and some regular headphones. I'm having problems with recording and playback levels. Both meters only show activity on the left side. I can't hear anything, through the headphones, while recording. But on playback, I'm hearing only out of the left headphone and it's very low, no matter how I adjust the volume. Also, somehow, the waveform meters shrunk to little more than a line and adjusting zoom does nothing. Please help. I'm so new at this and it's been driving me crazy for two weeks now. Hi; Greetings; I need to import and sync several audio tracks from the same event, on different recorders; into a single file. Does Audacity have a "sync" feature? Plural Eyes is great, except that it requires a video timeline and doesn't work on audio only tracks... TY

question how do i fix distortion? im only hitting the .5 and -.5 volume mark right next to where you can see the 'waves' i think it might have to do with the volume setup between my guitar amp, interface, and audacity input itself. my signal map is directout signal> quarter inch input on my interface> usb port on pc.

Why is it that when I made a new track of me recording my voice into a new project, then I coppied nad pasted it into my original project at the beginning, why does only my voice play but not the rest of the rack I added my voice recording to? I had imported a CD audio wav file and made a project with it and I later recorded some comments I wanted to place at the beginning of the track.

Alexandra DiNicola Yeah you can import the audio into audacity. Highlight a few seconds of just the background noise and then go to effect noise removal. Click get noise profile, and the select the full track and go to effect noise removal. Then click OK.

Who knows how to fix corrupted/ erroneous MP3 files? I just noticed after a hard disk format (Windows 7) some of of the songs in my Music library in MP3 file won't play or during playback some songs would stop and often segments from other songs will play. Got almost 200 GB of data and Its impossible to check on this one by one. Any other tech savvy here? Any feedback is much appreciated

Once you have your stereo track in audacity look at the control box on the left of the stereo track. In the top right there is an arrow head facing down. Click this and a drop down menu appears which allows you to "Split stereo track" You can then edit left and right channels independently.

The Zazzie Bin You can go to effect: amplify, or normalize. They will increase the volume of your sound.

re: it's wont cut with the cut tool. make sure you've pressed STOP and not just PAUSE. then it should work.
