Audi 100 - typ 4A C4 Official promotional video

Based on the ground-breaking C3 Audi 100, this new model released in 1990 featured a completely new body, featuring the newly adopted corporate Audi face (with the grille integrated into the bonnet) introduced with the Audi V8.
Mechanically, the C4 introduced Audi's first V6 engine - the 90° 2.8 AAH engine capable of producing 128kW.
This video also includes some highlights of Audi's 1990 DTM championship win.

My dad had Audi 100 2.8E Quattro for 18 years (1992-2010). For me this the car that made Audi a serious competitor to Mercedes Benz and Bmw but of course in the minds of the public it still Audi years to build that premium image. It was such an amazing car, very reliable and in Finland where we use a lot of salt on the roads during harsh winters, it had no rust. The car handled very well on ice (drove rally when I received my drivers license in 1995). Engine, transmission, electronics or suspension never had any problems I can remember. The V6 (174hp, 245nm) had an awesome sound and accelerated like a rocket when overtaking. With manual transmission it was huge fun in slippery conditions. The velcor seats were very comfotable and still looked great after 255 000km. Technically it was very advanced. In the beginning of the 90s that 0,29 drag efficient was superb, torsen quattro, procon ten, light body with zinc protection... (only 1500kg). In Auto Motor Und Sports crash test it got the highest score ever for driver and passenger safety. We have had many cars in the family since the beginning of the 90s (Bmw 330, MB ML 350, Audi A6 3,0TDI Quattro Avant, Volvo XC90, MB E350, Tesla Model S) but this is the car that impressed us the most when we got it.

I have an Audi 100 S4 from 1991 and is the best car ever. That 5 cylinder 20Vturbo engine is awesome, and the sound... Quality is 10. Best looking sedan ever made.

These are such amazing cars, but relatively unknown by the average consumer. The quality of these cars and the D2 chassis was exceptional. It was such a great time for Audi, when safety and quality were so much more important than saving weight and cutting costs. Unfortunately the cost cutting late in the decade and for several years after really hurt the brand. Mercedes did the same thing and their image is still recovering. BMW never made something near the quality of the C4 so they have never suffered from a dip in perception by the public. The good news is Audi has recovered very well from their late '90s and early '00s mistakes. Although it's hard to say if any of their new models will ever hold up as well as a C4 or D2.

C4 was the best Audi. Nothing like it after that. I'm a Benz guy, but give a lot of credit to 100/A6 C4.

Muhammet Eroglu My father had Audi 100 2.8E Quattro from 1992 to 2010, so 18 years (255 000km). It was highly reliable and even in Finland where we use a lot of salt on the road (to get rid off ice) there was no corrosion due to zinc! Engine or electronics never had any problems.

Thank you very much for posting this :) My parents had one (in dark blue) - with a 2.4 diesel (82 hp) engine. Not very fast, but the sound of the 5-cyl was very nice. After seventeen years my parents traded it in for an A6 2.0 TDI (another dark blue one). I'll never forget the comment of my father when they bought the A6: "But our 100 is only 17 years old, do we really need a new one?" :)

My stepfather has Audi 100 with 2.5 TDI engine and 5 speed stick for over 10 years. One of the best cars ever to be built. Very robust, as well as being super comfy and huge fun to drive. 5 cylinder TDI engine the best diesel engine to have it has great fuel economy, huge torque and that 5 cylinder rumble.

I'm so proud to be the owner of 2xUrS6s.i have owned my first UrS6 when i was in the university and now i'm 40!the cars are still rust free and very reliable.i did totally agree with the comments that the later models,they are money sucker and not reliable like the old days audi anymore.i believe B5 and C5 folks could chime in.i didnt mean they are bad vehicles but yes Audi just changed the mindset on producing the vehicles just like some other german vehicles in the same Era.

I live in South Africa and had a 500E with a 2.3l straight 5 engine. Similar to the S4 with a 2.2l turbo quattro....not sure if this refer to the Audi 100 model??!! Anyway... super awesome, rugged, durable and a great tourer!! Cruising on the freeway at 160 -180km/h effortlessly and plenty to spare!! Very fuel efficient for this type of large heavy vehicle. I gave it to my dad when my mom passed away as he loved this car. No squeecks and rattles, rock solid!! Was a 1993 model with more than 300 000 km, still the same factory clutch and exhaust pipe. This was in 2010. Today's cars are great with awesome technology, but they lack that something special.....😼 😎

Podobno między innymi i my Polacy wygraliśmy II wojnę światową, ale na podstawie tego filmu m.in. zaczynam w to wątpić, pokazuje on jakie zacofanie panowało na ulicach na wschód od Berlina po roku 1990 choćby w samej motoryzacji, ówczesne nowe auta, teoretycznie dostępne w PL, u nas zaistniały 15 lat później i jeszcze do niedawna oblegały masowo wschód europy, zatem czy aby wygrana tak do końca była wygraną? skoro między przegranymi Niemcami a nami była już wtedy taka przepaść technologiczna, że o gospodarce i zarobkach nie będę wspominać, łza się w oko kręci jak widzę takie filmy, bo były wtedy piękne czasy, ale nie dla wszystkich... i cóż po wygranej wojnie, cóż po obaleniu komuny, skoro teraz już tamte czasy nie wrócą, wszystko plastikowe, tandetne i nie proporcjonalnie drogie...

Вводятся новые налоги на выхлоп и стимулируются продажи новых говномобилей! Срок эксплуатации которых скоро сравняется с мобильными телефонами! Ты хоть раз сидел в электромобиле? Мало того, что внутри это сплошная бескомфортная пластмасса, так ещё и на одной зарядке ты проедешь 120 км, а потом стой больше часа и чеши себе яйца, пока твой говномобиль заряжается! О какой экологии идёт речь, если утилизация этих батарей после срока службы стоит немалых денег и требует опять же- энергии. Электромобили должны стоить в разы дешевле серийных авто, так как они уступают по всем параметрам! Очень жаль, что автомобили 90 и 2000, которые были вечными, уходят в историю на фоне нового дерьма!
