Totally agree with you there! Makes a lot of sense. Also, I’m ashamed to say I never knew you could get the 2.0 TDI in the A1. Every single one I’ve had has been the boring and slow 1.6

I heard it got part exchanged into a Porsche dealer and none of the dealers would touch it because of the mileage. I think one of the dealers had told them there was an issue with the gear selector cables but there wasn't. I think they wanted it out of the way so i got lucky.. I was happy to take it even if it has some issues, but it seems to be ok so far.

So, the A1 was a clever decision or... some kind of nostalgia for another diesel VAG hatch, like a small and red Polo? :) The 1.4 TSi also faced a few problems with the DSG Gearbox, mostly related to the (lack of) lubrification. Nice to see you're back! You will miss the "snow polo marathon", btw... keep being what brought us here! Cheers!
@CarTrouble4 жыл бұрын
Many thanks Alexandre. That's interesting.. Didn't a few of the models suffer with the DSG or was it mainly the 1.4?
@alexandrermmezzo96724 жыл бұрын
@@CarTrouble It was the DQ200 DSG Gearbox, with 7 speeds, used in small engines (1.0 - 1.8). Works on a dry clutch (such a nice idea...) and overheats, among other problems. Considering that it only can handle 250 NM of torque, it's not the same used in the 1.4 Diesel - so, you are free from this headache! And, by only 250 NM, trust me... if you tune-up to get more boost from the turbine, the gearbox will be crying and calling Jesus in a few miles. I found this info, that could help somebody: www.eco-torque.co.uk/post/vw-dsg-7-speed-dsg-gearbox-problems

I looked into these after being passenger in a remapped and exhaust fettled S Line version. It was running at 220bhp. The cost of the parts and tuning was £500 and it felt silly quick. Apparently as fast as an S1 which makes me think what a modified and tuned S1 must be like.
@CarTrouble4 жыл бұрын
220 bhp for £500? I'm not into modding but that sounds like something worth doing!
@marklowry87994 жыл бұрын
@@CarTrouble The exhaust had its guts taken out and it was remapped, all done in-house. It could have been mapped past 220bhp but the priority was for better fuel economy because it was being used for a good daily distance, it gave an extra 5mpg after the work and even more on a run. I would own an A1 and do the exact same mods if they came with an auto box.
