Audi A2 - sensor for evaporator outlet temperature (G263) replacement - EP8 - project youngtimer

When the AC does not cool the air completelly, the most probably cause is the sensor for evaporator outlet temperature (G263). It is important that you verify this with a diagnostic equipment and this should show the following trouble code:
00818 - Sensor for Evaporator Outlet Temperature (G263)
30-00 - Open or Short to Plus
Replacement is not very difficult, but the problem is that the sensor is in such a location that has very little room around, so it can take some time to open the access to it and not to brake anything during the process. In this video I will show the whole process, with emphasis on the parts where you need to be carefull not to brake anything.

Thank you very much for the video! It helped a lot in replacing the sensor! To remove the clip that holds the cable to the aluminum plate (shown at 11:37), I used an M5 nut (actually a wing nut, but a normal nut should work the same) that I put over the clips. That compressed them so I could easily draw them through the hole.

Thank you for your very understanding video. Very well explained. I have got a problem with my A2 that AC only delivers ice cold air. I can not reach the control module with VDCS and the hidden menu (air circulation+arrow up) does not work either. I have tried a different module but it behaves in the same way. Can it be possible that a faulty sensor confuses the module in a way that it can not be reached? What or which sensor could this be? Any help is greatly appreciated. Kindest regards, R. Winter

Sadly I cannot give any usable suggestion. I would try to find a cheap used AC control unit and test it with that one.

Why do you need to remove the A pillar lower trim and the bottom trim? Why is that needed for this job?

Thanks for the video! The problem I have is that the fan does not work properly, I still have the same problem after changing to a new fan. Is this also the censor that causes this problem?

Sadly I do not know. I did not have this problem. But I do suggest to check with diagnostic if the trouble code is present. If the problem is in this sensor, the trouble code should be present.

So defroster flap, right? There is no other way except to take it out and try to repair it or replace it. Check if there is an option to recalibrate it first…

I would start with a scan with diagnostic equipment. That should point to the problem.
