Top video as usual, I had a pan roof in my old A3 Sportback and missed it, so when I order the next will more than likely include it. My one never increased cabin noise TBH or leaked, so a worthy option to consider and its a classy feature !

It appears that Audi has removed the sunroof as an option on all A3 models on its confugurator. Have there been problems with this unit?

Hi bud, thanks for watching - hope you've subscribed for more content! Be sure to check out the rest of our channel for lots of 8y content! The panoramic roof has been reserved for the vorsprung trims only at the moment. This is due to the microchip shortgage and in particular the chips needed to move the roof backwards and forwards.

Possibly also because of the number of problems seen with them leaking. Google the known issue of the aluminum to plastic bonded section of guttering breaking due to different thermal expansion rates. Many people left with 4k bills for a new roof.

I am trying to find an A3 8Y Saloon with a pan roof seems pretty difficult! So far the highest trim Vorsprung has it. Annoying since my old 8V has it.

Yeah frustrating due to the semiconductor shortages. I believe the rail mechanics used to move the roof back and forth are impacted. That's why they're rationing it and only using it on the vorsprung for now. No idea when that will change.

Thanks for the great content. Can you open and close the pan sunroof when driving at high speeds? I guess i'm thinking of convertibles where you can't go much faster than 30mph.

Nice video bro. Very usefull info. Do you know why they don't give the new a3 the new steeringwheel? I think the old one doesn't do the new interior any good. I have seen some with the new steering wheel

Thanks for commenting bro, hope you've subscribed to help us grow :) I honestly think it's cost cutting. You'll notice I commented on this in my 2019 Vs 2020 video. Basically unless you go for the driver assist pack you're given old looking steering wheels which are clearly from the shape before. The horn shape is circular where as the rest of the interior is with sharp square lines. I've never really liked it to be honest, shows they wanted to save cost and not redesign

Hello thank you for the video. I have ordered the car without a sunroof but I am still thinking of adding one before it's too late and gets into production. My main concern is if it restricts the headroom because I am actually very tall (lol). I see that the mechanism opens from above and does not hide into the ceiling but I do not have a legitimate answer about that. Any information about that would be great:) Thank you

You're welcome 🙂 I wouldn't worry about the headroom, it sits almost flush with the rest of the ceiling. I'm 5'8 and have at least another 4/5" of clearance

@@CRD90 Thank you ! So it does not restrict the headroom... I also watched your video for the 12 months review. It is really sad that it turned that way for you. I am afraid that any early adoption carries higher risk.

@@freddy9233 definitely doesn't and I've sat in cars with and without the panoramic roof. Yep unfortunately a lot of the problems could have been avoided, but we couldn't be happier with the outcome. The whole customer experience of Audi was terrible, I'm all for problems but it's how companies deal with them that makes the difference.

What about on a really hot sunny day. Does the shade really cut out much heat harshness?

I would say the shade definitely does cut out the harshness if by that you mean the glare from it being a bit too bright 👍🏽

I would love for the roof to be a full glass roof that doesn't open for example my partners Peugeot 308 has this ok it doesn't open but the cover slides completely back and pretty much the whole roof is letting light in. Also from the outside the whole roof appears black

Yeah my wife's mini cooper had a more "panoramic" roof that was from the front to the back. On the a3 I guess they call panoramic because the glass on the top of the car is edge to edge, however the actual sunlight area is less.
