VVT SOLENOID. The part behind the magnetic solenoid you tested. The center should be flush and not pushed outward. That is why the intake cam can not adjust correctly. The center piece of the vvt solenoid pops out like this one and needs replaced... of course the timing is going to be off if its requesting advance 30 degree of intake shaft timing but the actual timing is 30 degrees in the wrong direction.

I am just on with a similar engine in a Skoda Octavia. The timing chain are a real pain to get into time as the marks are a bit vague. Its all done with coloured links lined up the notches in the timing gears. Once you have them lined up and turn the engine over they will not align again for a good few turns. The chains jump really easily and the tensioners are a common weakness of these engines. You did the wright thing in passing on the job as the front of the car on the Audi has to come off,on the Skoda it is mounted transversely so not as bad to do. But still no a job to working outside. Great diagnosis.

Quick Info from an TFSI guy- the part that you tested at clip time between 10:50 and 11:00 --with the code 06H 109 257 C is Broken, need a new OEM one at dealership that costs 60 Pounds or Euro or USD, Pls ONLY OEM- The part head is off -head must have the same level with the part body. you also need a special tool to open -ONLY can be open turning clockwise. You will be surprised by results, waiting for questions and update.

I had one similar to this but a pain to find, turned out in the cam bridge there’s a mesh filter to the feed the camshaft sprocket and this has a way of breaking and blocking the oil feed to adjuster. Good luck mate hate jobs like this.

Nice diagnostics Luis. Given it is an auction car and it has probably had a head replacement/rebuild, it might make sense for the owner to get it done. To me, it would depend on the oil consumption. These things are notorious for it and if it is burning oil hard then I would let go of it, despite it being the nice car it is. On the plus side, they seem to have very little to absolutely no rust issues so might be worth investing into in the long run.

Great diagnostic and it's actually not bad to change the timing chain on this one but the parts that you'll have to take out before you reach the chain itself is a pain. If you have that EA888 timing chain tool set, you're good 👍👍

Thank you for the video. I'm interested in the part where you tested the coil. I assume that this coil is powered from the ECU with a PWM signal, there's no danger you can toast the coil if you feed it whit 12 constant volts? I was told to be cautious with AC compressor solenoids when testing so I'm curious about this king of solenoids. Thanks in advance!!
