Just done this on my a4 as I only had cold air.. what a job it was getting them clamps back on the pipes grrrrrrrrrr 3hrs to put clamps back on. I'm not a mechanic but I've saved myself money by doing the job myself and now I have hot heat wheeeeeeeey!

I got all excited after seeing this, but sadly my 1998 A4 2.6L looks pretty different, once I'd removed the covers. I took off the glovebox and had a look from the other side, but not looking too hopeful... I need to shift the massive heater unit to even get a look.

Hey mate! Thank you so much for the video! I need to bypass my heater core for the summer (I'm broke) lol. Can you give me a little more detail on exactly what type of garden hose connector? I am having a tough time making out exactly what you did. Thanks in advance!
@pandaflop
@pandaflop 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah what you want is a double male hose connector - let's you connect 2x hoses to each other and some jubilee clips. Make sure it's a metal one so it can take the heat and make sure it's not tiny so you end up over crimping the hoses Similar to this: Hozelock 2044P0000 Pro Metal Double Male Hose End Connector, Silver amzn.eu/d/fcC490l

Hi Pandaflop, so i have audi a4 b7 avant. I cannot see how the heater matrix can be pulled out as the clutch pedal sensor assembly prevents it sliding out. I have been trying for an hour or so. I see someone says dremel part off but i am loathed to do this as it may weaken the bracket. Can you shed some light please ? Is it easy to remove the clutch and brake pedal assembly without having to mess about with the brakes etc.

Greetings from Serbia, I have a problem with the heating on the 2002 Audi A4 B6. The thermostat is replaced and the engine temperature drops to idle again. It won’t stand at 90 degrees if maybe the problem is in the little fridge
@pandaflop
@pandaflop 2 жыл бұрын
That's a tricky one, if the engine temp stays low and the ac only blows cold, I would say cold ac is a symptom not a cause - need a hot engine for hot air. Typical reasons an engine won't heat up is that it's keeping itself cold, because an engine naturally generates heat - reasons for this are - thermostat stuck open (which you've already replaced), a bad engine coolant temp sensor or a locked fan clutch - could also be if there's too much anti freeze in the system (like 90% antifreeze)
@milanpaunovic1429

I replaced 3 thermostat is the same, replaced the temperature sensor new. I just don’t know if maybe the problem is the little fridge. So when I go uphill it keeps the temperature at 90, as soon as I go downhill it drops to 50 but it still heats up. But it is not clear to me why the engine temperature drops. When I'm not using the heating, everything is fine, ok, when I turn on the heating, it's down, but it's just idle or downhill. A very strange problem, no one can solve it for me

I am having a beast of a time getting the pipes together. Any tips or special tools to use to get the pipes to marry and get the clamps on?

Aaron Campbell it's a pig of a job, I did it just by trail and error and trying not to lose my temper. U could use a bit of gaffer tape, but it might be too thick and stop the clamp going round

I am just getting a little bit of heat through my vents, really not much at all compared to what I should have. Do you think that could be the core causing the issue or something else? Any help welcomed.

I'd try flushing your heater core, there's some good videos out there for this, you won't have to remove it to flush it.

I have a B8 now, sold my B7, will check and get back to you. I think the by pass i used should be the same as the engine bay end to the pipes is in the same spot roughly. I think the heater core is on the same spot but would be more of pig of a job.

its an easy job but bit of a pig, takes a lot of forcing to get it out cos the clutch will be in the way, theres a smaller rad infront of the core thats worth pulling out, also those clips on the pipes are REALLY delicate, broke one putting it back on and had to replace with a plumbing pipe clamp haha expect to skin your knuckles

Hi there! I don’t mention it because you’d have to be fairly clumsy and ham fisted to manage to snap your clutch sensor off in the process! There’s plenty of people in the comments who managed not to do it. Equally if it was in your way - why did you not remove it? A clutch sensor is easily removed
