Sorry mate, I only fix the bits that break and only what I can do on my drive. I'm not a trained mechanic so unless I have had the issue on my own car I am afraid I cannot help. Hope you get it sorted.

When using the 12v how do you reset when done

It will reset after engaging the handbrake.

Once youve wound back the piston with the 12v battery. How do you wind it back out? Cheers
@AstonishingGlasgow Жыл бұрын
You can either swap the polarity and wind the handbrake back on or when finished, cycle the handbrake a few times and the car will relearn the handbrake position.

Cant you just hold down the parkbreake button?
@AstonishingGlasgow2 жыл бұрын
I have not heard of that working. I think that only releases the handbrake but you need the motors fully wound in. If it works for you let me know.

No , you have to fully rewind the parking break . Get the obd machine I bought, it's cheap and does tools of good things . His machine is expensive .

Ok, done this with the 12v battery method. All seemed good until I got back in the car and the handbrake won’t release and there’s a handbrake malfunction warning. Help!

Just did this on my brothers audi a4. It didnt need a scna tool. Just released tbe brake from the drivers seat using the usual button. Then turn the engine off and crack on with the job
@AstonishingGlasgow6 күн бұрын
You were lucky. Compressing the caliper piston back in when the electronic hand brake is not fully retracted could really mess up the handbrake motors.
@nsoper196 күн бұрын
@@AstonishingGlasgow cheers for the info. So does the tool retract the handbrake further than the the button does?
@AstonishingGlasgow6 күн бұрын
Yes. the button only retracts the motor enough to release the brake. As the pads wear the motors wind further out so when you change the pads you need to rewind the motors right back to the start position.

Yeah nice way to destroy the parking brake motor . Don't listen to this guy , get a tool like this man did or them two wires .
