I have had two of these with this engine. I got around 30 mpg average out of the A8 4.2tdi 350bhp 2010 D4 with 19 inch wheels and 27 mpg out of my current A8L 385bhp 2014 with 20 inch wheels. Sounds good for a diesel so I don't mind the relatively low diesel mpg. Also 4.7 seconds 0-60mph so it's reasonable fuel consumption really.

4.7 for a 4.2 engined car that has 27mpg is not good , a audi s3 does 3.9 to 100 and uses 35-40mpg .

@@richardmaskrey2341 i own a heavy a4 tuned quattro estate i get 38 mpg in city and about 6 liters/100km outside the city in polite driving and i did manage 4.2 to 100kph . The s3 is lighter and has a much newer engine than my old junk ass b8 audi and will do better to 100 and should certainly get 35-40 in city . Engines have gone a long way old diesels like this are to be cherished for their existance not actually used because they are ineficient . My 2 cents take it or leave it have a nice day stay safe .

@@mikemayers9353 I sold my A8 last year. I have a Model 3 LR with accelaration boost now. 3.7 to 60 in complete silence and no gear changes. I am not saying everyone will love it but it sure is quick. Free to charge too as I have solar panels on the roof. Not that it's sunny in England!

Today I run my Audi A8 2006 on a mountain road. I notice the computer 1 indicating 20.1 l/100 km is it normal., need I to check for something wrong. I saw some advertising a fuel consumption with 10 l/100,km.?

I have a 2016 4.2 tdi V8 385bhp with 28k on the clock. It can be slightly heavy on fuel in stop start town traffic = 20 - 25mpg. Normal motorway use with light use of the acceleration = 51 - 53mpg. Towing a 2.2t caravan on the motorway = 30 - 35mpg depending on conditions.

ERICZONg1 - I also have a BMW M760Li V12 which can measure 35mpg on motorways and my previous BMW 740Ld could also achieve 70+ mpg.

I do not understand! I also have a 2011 Audi A8 with a 4.2 TDI engine of 351hp and at 100km \ h I did not manage to fall below 7.5-7.8. At 120-140km \ h, I'm already talking about consumption of 9.7-10.5 and a maximum of 11.2. I don't understand how your car can consume in principle at 100km \ h 6 liters and at 120 km \ h 6.6 liters when I at 100km \ h below 7.5-7.8 liters I didn't manage to decrease either ( with the foot taken off the accelerator). What can it be? To have something in addition to your car compared to mine or simply is like a product taken from the store, as will be the luck of everyone, another is satisfied with it, another has problems!

Notice the drive mode….E. In mine it knocks back the aircon quite a bit to reduce drag. Mine won’t get his economy, but it’s better than yours. Under rated cars…and not the maintenance head ache some people seem to think

Are you looking at average from start? In this case it has been reset on the highway.

And probably the real consumption is higher than it says. The real consumption is the fuel you fill divided by kms you make

Ein Topverbrauch für Leistung und Größe des Wagens. Mein Hyundai i30 hat 110ps und verbraucht bei 100kmh 3,8l Diesel. Dein A8 benötigt nur 2l mehr, was echt nicht viel ist

Trotzdem braucht die Karre im Alltag gute 13-16L im Durchschnitt, also absolut kein Vergleich
