Mike, thanks so much for taking the time/effort to put this video series together. It's a great reference. I also appreciate you specifying the bolt type/size and torque specs. Lots of vids out there don't go to this level of detail. In my opinion, trying to cross-reference the proper torque specs is often times the most frustrating part of the job (when you don't have the service manuals). Much appreciated! BTW, I can't seem to locate the transmission filter/fluid change video that was mentioned. Has anyone found a decent one to use? I plan on doing that at the same time while doing the transfer case fluid.

Is see there was some welding done on the exhaust pipes. Did you replace the just the flex areas? If so, where did you get those peices and are you happy with the results? Thinking if should go with the pipe from Audi that has the flex built into it or just cut out and replace just the flex. Thanks in advance
@mikesgarage1518 Жыл бұрын
Yes, they were leaking badly so I replaced the just the flex joints. I was going to make a video on it but my welding is pretty crappy so did not make one. So far the repair is held up for a few years, might use the Audi ones if it fails again.

@mikesgarage1518 front rear and center same fluid to be used? and what quantity?. does sports differential use different fluids? which is sports differential location. I have sports differential. pl explain transfer case and differential. thank you
@mikesgarage15189 ай бұрын
The combined/separate transfer case and front differential oiling is discussed at the 1 min mark and the part number for the fluid I used is in the description for all 3 videos. I have no knowledge of the sports differential, I would suggest calling a dealer however I would assume only the rear is a sports differential but not sure.

@@guzforce When I changed my transmission fluid last year I was not able to find a complete kit. Search for ZF 1087298348 for the filter kit. FCP Euro had a decent price for the Lifeguard 8 fluid. The service manual mentions the transmission support bracket bolts should be replaced since they are torque to yield (part number I used was N91174201). The Meyle filter kit on FCP is less but I chose to go OE. Hope this helps.

while you posed the video and did a good job, the procedusre you did was actually not correct. with those gearboxes that use shared oil lines between the center and front diffs, you have to drain both at the same time, fill the rear to the top of the plug, then the front, and then over fill the front by 1 litre (dont ask how, i tried and failed, dramatically) and wait for the oil to "reach an equilibrium, at which point the rear diff should start flowing oil outof the filler. then it is done

Please watch from 1:00 - 1:45. I clearly stated that my A8 uses separated oil systems therefor they are changes individually and use two different fluids.
