Audi EPC Light: How to Fix and Reset

Useful video. 2015 b8.5 s5, 115k km. Epc light came on, and the car started shaking with a loss of power. Parked, turned on/off fixed the issue. I think it's time for a basic tune-up(spark plugs ect) it could be carbon build-up also.

Wow Same thing happened to me 7 days ago with my 2015 Audi q5! I wish i came across this video sooner. I got mine towed to the Audi dealer and now they are talking about a rotor wiring issue

@Vlogbobb hey, as it turned out the dealer said a rodent, most likely a rat/mice chewed a wire connector. And my fuel ump module was bad. Its running now, but soon i will try and get a tune up done

Hello love your videos , audi a2 owner and my ESP light comes out after some period of driving,I feel no difference at all , no power loss or such. If i switch off and on the engine it goes away,and rarely comes back happens at least once a day. What could be the fault? Thanks

I have an Audi s4 b8.5 and was driving home around 75mph. I went to pass a car and didn’t punch it but when my car downshifted is when it threw the code and started to shake. I turned it off and back on and I took it easy home. Any idea on this?

Hi, honestly, it's difficult to determine, but since the code disappeared after turning it off and back on, it might indicate something is starting to fail but hasn't completely gone bad yet, such as the spark plugs. The best approach would be to scan and check the code your S4 stored.

@@HonestMechanicChannel So it showed a misfire in cylinder 1 and 3 I just changed the plugs and coils for those and haven’t got anything yet. I think I’m going to change PCV soon.

Hello, my Audi Q5 2012 has this problem, the spark plugs and coils were changed and they scanned it and it doesn't show any faults, it vibrates sometimes other times it works well and it doesn't start well, it's time to accelerate

My engine light came on and I have obd2 carista and codes are 21388 fault code - Exhaust door valve 1: Open circuit I’ve taken off the wire at the exhaust on both sides then the 2nd came up blown in them to clean desert and 1 open circuit driver side is still faulty not letting me reset EPC came on car was shaking and loud and kept driving engine light came on saying misfire as I kept driving for 5 mins only when in sports mode snd stopping the gas hard

HOW about when its cold out and i start my car, EPC light comes on but after driving a bit and waiting for the engine to warm up. I turn it off and then turn it on and EPC light is no longer there! what could it be?

Hello, sometimes it comes on when I turn on the car, sometimes while I’m driving. Only when the EPC light is on, it will display Stop-start function non available.

I had the same thing at first check engine with cylinder miss fire and EPC light I changed fuel injectors and carbon cleaning for the check engine. For EPC I replaced a damaged cable that went to the gas pressure fuel. After that the car felt better but still had EPC going on in the high way. I had done an oil change at home and guessing by lifting the car up it activated the EPC so I did a EPC reset I seen on a website. After that no EPC light hope this helps!

I have a 2015 A3. EPC has been coming on and off for about 350 miles. Same with check engine. I had codes read and got multiple. P0236 (said moderate issue). P0606, P0106, P0192 (said these were major issues). Any idea? Thanks!

With mine if I hard accelerate the EPC light comes on and it shakes bad and misfires, the code I get is for cylinder 2 misfire.. however I can shut the car of and drive fine and the engine doesn’t shake.. it only does this when I put the pedal to the floor. I also replaced that cylinder plug and coil pack and still have the same issue.

Hi, The symptoms you describe suggest there could be an issue beyond just a faulty spark plug or coil pack in cylinder 2. Since replacing these didn't resolve the problem, you might be dealing with fuel delivery issues, a clogged fuel injector, or a more complex electrical or sensor-related problem. Given that the issue occurs under hard acceleration, it could also be related to inadequate fuel pressure or air intake issues. My bet is on a bad fuel injector on that cylinder

Hello You can take out the fuel injector from cylinder nr-2 and place that to another cylinder If the error code is on that cylinder then the problem is the fuel injector

@@josuecruz5327 I haven’t change it out yet but I believe it’s a clogged injector, I have about 116,000 miles on it. I’ll definitely post an update when I fix it.

Petrol, 2.0 tfsi 211hp. EPC doesn apear every time when i put ignition. It s need to try beteeen 5 and 20-30 time to EPC apear . I noticed that after a longer trip, the EPC no longer appears when I try to restart. and gives me error TPMS, ESP, ABS, gear box and headlight adjustment. I have an error on almost all modules when I scan with VCDS. I'm interested if you experienced something like this, where the problem came from. when the car is started, it runs flawlessly, it doesn't jerk, it doesn't slow me down at speed.

I have an audi a6 2.7t 2004 and when you push the throttle it loses power and the epc shows up, you have tu turn off the car to be able to walk

I have an 2013 adui q7 and i changed the throttle body and i was still having the same problem. My q7 is supercharged so could it be that? I noticed a small throttle body in the supercharger but i haven't tested it yet

The throttle body need to be relearned to the car after installation. Otherwise it won’t communicate properly

Been 2 month since i bought my a5 from a friend engine oil was topped up after 2 months ive been unlucky as there was a mixture of diesel in my fuel tank and when i went to a garage he said only 500ml of oil remained in the engine. Could this oil consumption have happened due to the diesel mixed with petrol

Hello, I have codes p2293, p0343, EPC indication. I checked the camshaft marks, everything is fine. accelerates poorly at low engine speeds, after 2500prm, as if a second wind appears and the car begins to accelerate. Thanks

Hi Piligrim, managed sort it out? these codes can also be caused by the following 1. VVT Solenoid 2. Faulty fuel pressure regulator 3. Clogged fuel filter 4. Malfunctioning camshaft position sensor 5. Wiring issues related to the camshaft position sensor

Mine came on today when driving in the rain. It went into limp mode on the motorway. I turned the car off and back on again and the car drove ok with no lights on and i continued the remaining 43 miles of driving. How can I diagnose this please with no engine light or epc light on the dash now?

Hi, Audi A4 2013 about 75000 miles, when the car is still cold it is no problem and the EPC light is off. If I drive for almost half an hour, stop and turn off the engine, if I turn it on back again usually the EPC light comes on and stays on. But there is no shaking or loss of power or anything noticeable in driving. Any advice what may the cause be?

Hi, Since this happens after a while, Since it only appears after driving for a while and restarting, it might be related to a sensor or electronic component that malfunctions when hot. Common causes include: Throttle Body Issues: Dirt or malfunction in the throttle body. Faulty Sensors: Issues with the mass airflow sensor (MAF) or crankshaft position sensor. Let me know how it goes!

I'm having the exact same issue as you described, mine is a 2014 Audi A4. Took it to a mechanic who said it was the oxygen sensor (also called lambda sensor). Changed the one who was "supposed" to be faulty, only for the light to come ON again about 2 days later. Changed the other sensor (they're 2 lambda sensors), and again, about 2 days later the EPC light came ON again. I'm getting frustrated with this. I'm going to return to them tomorrow and see what they come up with. I'll let you know if I manage to have it sorted out and what they did to sort it out. I haven't taken to my local Audi dealership because they are ridiculously expensive. I once was quoted R32000 (South african Rand) = USD1700, for rear brake calipers, that actually cost R7000 = USD380.

Hello, I recently had a fuel line come off on my car (weird issue) and after reconnecting the line, the epc light is on. Could this turn on simply from air getting into the fuel line/the car failing to start a couple times?

Hi Noel, sorry to hear that, here is what I think: it's likely that water or moisture got into sensitive electrical components, such as sensors or wiring. Check for wet or loose connections, especially around the throttle body, MAF sensor, and coil packs. Dry any wet areas. If you have an OBD scanner the best place to start is to clear the codes.

@@HonestMechanicChannel thanks for the help, I did notice that if I let the car idle the epc light won’t come on but if I tap the gas pedal a couple times it comes on as well as both my cooling fans stoped working
