The fact that they made a whole concept livery and then proceeded to apply that livery to a show car and put it on display in Belgium shows that they want to be more than just an engine supplier, and will likely hold a large stake in whatever team they decide to join. edit: I think I misunderstood this comment

Rumour has it that Audi joined F1 now that cars can follow each other more closely. Their cars will be able to sit right on the bumper of the car ahead, just like they do on the motorway. Road Relevance!

But in his defense, Audi made 4wd a thing and since then they were comminted in different series and had great success here and there, made some legends on the way too. And if the regulations allowed it, they always came up with some serious stuff and surprised anyone with. Dominated Ralley, dominated IMSA, Dominated LeMans. And now its time to find out what they can do in F1. And i m not even a fan of the brand.

Merc make the car an PU in the UK, Porsche will do the same if they join, they will use RBR facilities, while Audi will manufacture the engine in Germany 🇩🇪 and construct the chassis in Switzerland 🇨🇭

The problem is exactly that they focussed more on affortable cars, in the context of F1. Its nice and all that, but not the revenue maker that can shoulder an F1 team in the making. I know cost cap, but that is for the active season. If you dont have the facilities yet for the developement of this car you have to invest and that is some serious money and basically no limit. Audi takes 4 years from now on, and they have surely already done some reserch. And this timeframe alone shows that they are seriously commited to stay. You dont do half a decade prepareation for a short term commitment. Its unfortunate, i would like to see any japanese car brand in F1 too. But i cant see any of them have the resources right now.

@@madrooky1398 yeah sure. Since they don’t really playing games in performance cars, still unsure Japanese automakers will back to f1. Also without F1, Toyota still sells lot of cars. Also F1 doesn’t have direct result to production cars. That’s why Toyota playing in WRC since it required a production car to compete.

@@RidwanNurzeha True. And somehow i got the impression that the board of a company has to be enthusiastic about F1 too. And it seems like japanese car makers are different. If i remember correctly they made an agreement in the 90 to not to sell street cars with more than 300hp, to increase road safety. No german car maker would agree to that, they dont even ever agree to a general speed limit for the Autobahn. Not saying that i understand fully what all these people thinking, just an impression i got. Or a guy like Lawrence Stroll, whos financing not only the seat of his son, but the entire team around this seat haha... thats some serious pocket money this man has for his family hobby...^^
