Audi MMI 4G CarPlay activation with MIB2 K3663 AIO update

All-In-One update for #Audi MMI MIB2 systems (MHI2_ER_AUG11 and MHI2_ER_AU57x) which will install latest K3663 firmware and bring ASI (Audi Smartphone Interface) to your vehicle. Installation does not require any diagnostic tools. Just the update package, SD card, and less than an hour of your time. When it's done you will be running latest firmware with features like #CarPlay and #AndroidAuto.
ℹ️ Installation tutorial
1. Confirm you have Audi MMI MIB2 with MHI2_ER_AUG11 or MHI2_ER_AU57x SW train.
2. Download the Audi 3663 AIO update and extract it to an empty FAT32 formatted SD card.
3. Turn the engine on and make sure keyless key will stay in the vehicle during the procedure.
4. Restore factory settings in Audi MMI system.
5. Place the card in SD1 port.
6. Press and hold BACK and TOP-LEFT button to enter Red Engineering Menu.
7. Go to Update → SD 1 → Standard → Start update → Start.
8. Wait patiently for about 30-40 minutes. Unit will reboot several times. Sometimes screen will stay closed, sometimes will stay black, sometimes will stay on Audi logo. Keep waiting.
9. When it's done confirm it. Unit will reboot one final time.
10. Check if unit is now running updated firmware.

🚗 This tutorial was made in Audi A7 (4G), but the same system can be found in Audi A6 C7 (4G). Audi MMI MIB2 system (MHI2) is sometimes called Audi MMI 4G.
⚠️ If your car is equipped with keyless remote, make sure that the remote stays in car at all times during the update procedure. Removing the key from the vehicle can turn the ignition off which will cause update to fail.
⚠️ Bose sound system amplifier will not be updated during this procedure. Updating it would require VCP parametrization to be performed after the update. If you wish to update it, you can use alternative metainfo2.txt file in the installation package.

I wanted to pay for this update, but after I got the feedback from my service partner that my car wouldn't be eligible for an update I was more than disappointed. Doing a bit of research I stumbled upon this channel and after confirming my firmware version was supported, the risk-reward-ratio seemed acceptable so I took the plunge. I had some initial problems with the SD card I was using (wasn't recognized as a source), so it looked like my efforts were in vain. With a working SD card the process was a breeze, after around 25 minutes everything was installed and CarPlay working flawlessly. I started from the version MHI2_ER_AU57x_S2519_1, now running K3663_1. Thanks for the instructions, awesome work by the smart people who figured this out.

@@christianwiens6597 yes, two "normal' USB ports with no smartphone icon on either. Keep in mind, my car had the upgraded MMI (technology pack) so it is possible that they prewired everything from the factory. I did go to an Audi dealer who told me I needed new hardware and software upgrade...delighted I didn't waste 💰 considering this update work perfectly. (The map updated as well but you need to do this update first) My car is a 2017 A6 C7 black edition with technology pack...not sure if this helps. Major thanks to the uploader (@mr-fix), developers and everyone for their comments...the comments from others helped me make the decision to try it. Note...all of this is try at your own risk. Check the supported version in the video description first!!

Worked like a charm on audi a6 allroad 2015! When extracting the files don’t move the second zip file on the sd card. I don’t have any issues with audio (It’s not bose/B&O)! Thank you so much, keep up the good work!

Worked after a bit of a struggle. Originally after unzip the files were in one folder and the car didn't recognize the files. Then I moved the files out of the folder on SD card, the car accepted the files and all went as smoothly as on the video. I have Android auto now. Happy days. Many thanks to the author:)

Worked like a charm. If you get your audio settings grayed out just connect your phone via bluetooth as audio player and it will enable the audio menu (subwoofer, treble etc) Thanks!

I have been wanting CarPlay for a while and researching it I discovered I needed a box costing hundreds of pounds. This was a few months ago. Decided to research it more recently and found a company locally to me who could do this for £100 by installing a firmware upgrade. I nearly bought it but then stumbled across this video. I have a 2015 facelift A6 C7 with MHI2_ER_AU57x, 2 USB slots under the armrest with one showing the Smartphone symbol . So, I took the plunge and downloaded the firmware. Extracted it onto an SD card then inserted it into the car. It could not detect the SD card however. Checked the SD card in the computer and noticed it was formatted exFAT. Reformatted it as FAT32, extracted the update to the SD card again and inserted it into the slot. This time it recognised the update. After a scary 40 mins sitting in the car with the engine running the update was done and CarPlay was working! Hats off to the developers, a big thank you for this video and providing a link to the firmware. 👍🏻

Did this in my 2015 A6 Allroad today - everything went as in the video until the last reboot, where in stuck closed and unresponsive for over 15 (nerve wrecking) minutes, before it suddenly worked. Very nice to have these new features, feels like a much newer car now! Thanks!

Just wanted to say thanks and also warn others of one tiny issue that panicked me for a bit. At the very end I clicked confirm and it went in to the final reboot, the screen closed then music started but the screen didn’t open. I waited… and waited but it never opened again. I pressed the open screen button and… nothing. I waited another 5 minutes then decided to take the plunge and turn off the ignition, opened the door to make the radio turn off then closes the door, started the car and everything worked! Excellent and a massive relieve!

I just did the update on same version on my 2017 A6. Ive got 2 usbs under the armrest with no smartphone icon, but CarPlay works perfectly. I didnt have Audi Smartphone logo in menu, but now i do. Took about 15 mins, but i noticed there were fewer modules to be updated on our version (maybe newer than mr. fix?) Only rebooted 1 time when the update was done. Now on to the map update :-)

Don’t do this upgrade, I done this update and 3 months later it caused my MMI to crash and Audi dealership are charging €2500 for a new unit as they advised files were either corrupt or a virus… in the meantime I must find someone else to see if they can reverse the update or else I’ll have to pay €2500 for a new unit…

I also had to extract the files from the big folder, because the car didn‘t detect the files. Acabo de hacer la actualización en mi Audi A7 Sportback del 2016 con sistema MMI MHI2_ER_AU57x...Todo ha funcionado a la perfección, ya lo tengo actualizado y ahora puedo utilizar Android Auto. Finally, I got it. I first had to downgrade again to my old version. On my second attempt CarPlay install went smoothly and the map update followed without any trouble. I’m very glad about your famous video

To help others who have my model and version, it worked flawlessly on A6 Avant 4G/C7.5 2016. I updated from MHI2_ER_AU57x_P3236 to MHI2_ER_AU57x_K3663_1. I downloaded it from another place because the one you posted in the description was extremely slow for me, about a 12hr wait, but as long and you download the All-in-one package and K3663 version it should be fine. I didn't have an SD card so I updated via USB, just note you need an USB 32GB or less, otherwise you cannot format it in FAT32.

Success! For me, the key was to have the USB stick having the files and folders as *exactly* as shown in timestamp 3.24. All other instructions were good. Many thanks to Mr Fix and to some of the comments here. Saved a few £££

I just did this for my audi A7 C7 2015 And it all worked perfectly, very happy with apple car play and I feel like the mmi is running better now than before. It took 34 minutes. I also have the BOSE sound system in my car and can confirm, everything still works as before. I then updated the maps following the firmware update and that all went perfectly as well. I was able to do this whilst going for a drive. Thanks mr-fix !

I've just install new MMI according to instructions in the video. Thanks very much!!! I have Audi A6 avant C7, 2017, MMI MHI2_ERAU57X_P3634. I've used USB card, FAT 32, no factory reset to keep my settings. It took about 20 minutes, no problem at all, Bose sound system works like before update. Android car works great. And whats more....after new firmware I can also update maps! (before it doesn't work, because my licence ended). Once again great job!

Just updated my Audi A6 allroad 2016 with the BOSE soundsystem, no issues. I followed your instructions in the video and now I have Carplay. Thank you so much! 😀 Small note, the folders 1 & 2 from the download must be the first thing on the card, no extra folder inbetween for the car to find the contents of the card. I worried something would happen to the BOSE soundsystem after the "normal" update like not beeing able to adjust Bass and such but everything regarding adjusting the sound seems like normal, again big thanks!

Works great in 2016 A6 C7 with AU57x. Update took an hour. After unziping you should get the files out of the first folder. Rest of the folders (1 and 2) can stay. Many thanks!

Hi Mr.Fix , thanks for the nice video, links and all the stuff prepaired for us to just install carplay with one click :) my questioin is about B&O , i've got B&O and also understood that i have to change the meta file so that the correct one is gonna be used at the installation, but in the description you telling that us that we need a VCP, ODIS or VCDS. also if i have B&O install do i need to set new parameters , or is this only for people that dont have B&O but want to install it or did it by mistake ? Thanks for the video Mr-Fix. I've run the update and it's all installed but I've found that when I play audio via Android auto or car play that it's not using the Bose system installed in my a7. When I switch to radio, or Bluetooth then you can hear a noticeable difference as the Bose is being used. Any advice on how to make sure android auto is using the Bose amplification?

All good, audi a6 c7 from 2018 with boose audio system. Shortly after I went with upgrade of the maps since software itself insert a code which is valid till 2030+. Great work and thanks a lot !
