In this video I will show you the Mr12Volt CarPlay Interface for Audi MMI3G systems in my 2011 S5.
This also works for any other Audi with the same MMI system, for the compatibility of your vehicle please check the Mr12Volt website.

Urgent help! After installing the hardware, the audio doesn’t play when I try playing music from my phone. When I press media, the “CD Player” doesn’t show the name of the interface neither is it selectable.

Hello. I have recently installed this unit to the exact same Audi. Everything is perfect except that mr12volt doesn’t switch to mmi when I want to turn up/ adjust seat heating or show the parking sensors when I put it to reverse. So I have to manually go back to Audi system to do that. Do you know what’s the problem?

Hi! Nice overview, I am thinking about ordering one. About the startup time - if I start music on the phone, will it play faster via bluetooth or there is still this ~15 second timeframe on which the unit is booting up? If for example, android auto is not used or is still connecting? I currently use an invery BT emulator for my A5 and I like that it will start playback instantly as I put the key in. But Waze on the MMI screen would be sweet and as you mentioned about better audio quality.

Would you say the DSP version is well worth the extra €48 (in norwegian dealers the price difference is more like €90)? I am quite satisfied with the sound in my car as is (with Bang&Olufsen system) but does the DSP lift the sound experience significantly?

How have you found navigation considering it has to use the phone GPS. Does it work with phone in your pocket or you have to position the phone somewhere in particular to get reliable GPS lock?

Mal ne Frage, hast du vielleicht mal ein Soundvideo von der Fox anlage im Innenraum gemacht? Ich finde nur Videos von Außen, aber was man innen wirklich davon hört würde mich sehr interessieren, LG

I have the same box from mrvolt. But orginal micropgone wont work ):. with carplay for siri. Of course phone works worh orginal mic but not anything else

Hey, danke für die super Videos von dir! Kurze Frage, welches System ist besser? Das von Ampire oder das von Mr12Volt? Und kennst du den Unterschied der blauen Mr12Volt Box zur schwarzen?

Also das Mr12Volt ist eindeutig besser, deutlich mehr Soundqualität und besser ins MMI integriert. Edit: Ich sehe da jetzt auf die Schnelle erstmal keinen Unterschied, außer dass es die Schwarze ja sowieso nur fürs alte 2G gibt 😅

Very nice video. Would this improve the audio quality with the basic audio system on the B8 A4? I have MMI 3g+ but have not changed the speakers or coded anything yet.

This device is mainly for getting CarPlay with the best audio quality to the MMI. Apart from the equalizer it won’t make your system better than before. It is by far the best sounding option for CarPlay though.

I have another video explaining a little trick for MMI 3G systems without the B&O. You can change the sound profile from “internal” to “external amplifier” and get way better sound. That’s because Audi limits the basic stereo and even the AudiSoundSystem through software.

After installing it, the CarPlay functions correctly, but now the car won't start. Additionally, the onboard computer is missing. I removed the 12-volt installation, and now the car starts, but the airbag light is on. Any idea why this might be occurring?

I have asked to Mr12volt and they told me to check the gateway connection. I connected everything again and problem solved. Now I any have to fix the airbag failure 😅. Thanks!!

Hi, warum hast du dich gegen das Android carplay 10.25 für den a5 entschieden?

Wollte einfach nur CarPlay aber keine sonstigen Apps. Diese Android Bildschirme unterstützen zwar CarPlay aber nicht so 100% zuverlässig da das nur durch eine Drittanbieter App (ZLink) läuft, da gibts dann gerne nach Updates von Handy mal Probleme und darauf hat dann der Hersteller von Gerät erstmal keinen Einfluss weil das ja ne unabhängige App ist. Außerdem hat man wohl hin und wieder kleinere Probleme mit Stromverbrauch und Komponenten Schutz wenn das MMI erkennt dass das Display fehlt.

Servus Ich habe einen Audi A5 Baujahr 2015 mit dem mmi Version: BNav_EU_P0262_D1 Wenn ich auf Media gehe und dann Quelle auswähle wird mir auch die Option Bluetooth angezeigt wenn ich diese dann Auswähle wird eine beliebige Minutenanzahl gezeigt aber keine Musik abgespielt Die Freisprecheinrichtung funktioniert aber Einwand frei Außerdem besitzt das Fahrzeug keine AMI Schnittstelle im Handschuhfach Du hast ja große Erfahrung mit dem System ist deiner Erfahrung nach das MMI Defekt oder wollte der Vorbesitzer des Fahrezugs eventuell die Bluetooth Funktion nachrüsten und dies hat nicht richtig funktioniert?

Also das BNav sollte eigentlich kein Bluetooth haben (technisch einfach nicht möglich), das ist noch das kleine Navi aus dem VorFacelift was einfach als billige Version noch verbaut wurde auch später. Eventuell hast du einen nachgerüsteten Bluetooth dongle irgendwo. Schau mal hinten links im Kofferraum nach ob da etwas ist. Sonst hat der Vorbesitzer eventuell versucht da was zu kodieren was nicht funktioniert.

Still happy with this after using for a while? Have you tried using an app for internet radio and if so is it a good experience?

Yeah it’s really by far the best I’ve heard of. Also have some friends who are really satisfied with it. Recently calibrated the EQ for a few hours with my iPad and an Audio Analyzer App. Almost makes up for a separate DSP. As for radio I use mostly Apple Music’s built in radio function, as well as sometimes TuneIn or RadioPlayer. Works pretty well, and if you have enough data basically eliminates the need for DAB. Edit: the newer version of it even comes with support for using the Audi microphone, so you don’t need to route the cable. But I haven’t tested the sound quality or Siri reliably with that because mine doesn’t have that function.

That’s the only thing that doesn’t work, but you can still see the temperature and heated seat level on the small display from the climate control unit. So that isn’t really a problem for me

Hi, ich habe mir jetzt das P2000 3GGMM eingebaut in mein A5 . Jetzt stehe ich aber vor dem Problem das er nicht in das Menü von Mr12volt rüber springt. Er erkennt Mr12volt als Quelle (statt CD) aber beim auswählen der Quelle wechselt er nicht in das neue Menü. Hast du vielleicht eine Ahnung warum?

Gude, ja beim auswählen der Quelle passiert auch nichts. Drück mal so ein paar Sekunden lang auf “Media” dann sollte er vom MMI zum Interface wechseln.

I have an MMI3G with no CD changer as well and didn’t need to code anything. Just works after plugging it in.

Top Video! Ich habe ein Audi A4 8K 2013 mit dem MMI 3G+ und überlege auch schon lange. Ich wollte mir eigentlich das Ampire System holen, bin jetzt aber nicht mehr so sicher 😂 Würde das Mr12Volt auch mit dem 3G+ funktionieren? Und würdest du klar dieses System vor dem Ampire empfehlen? Bzw. Gibt es irgendwelche Nachteile nach deiner Erfahrung?

Sollte mit dem 3G+ funktionieren glaube ich. Ja würde das Mr12Volt nehmen, das ist ganz klar besser integriert und hat eine DEUTLICH bessere Tonqualität. Einziger Nachteil ja wie im Video schon gesagt ist dass du gleichzeitig kein Radio hören kannst während CarPlay angezeigt wird.

@@maximusoptimusTECH ok alles klar, danke. Ja das mit dem Radio sollte eigentlich nicht stören, man kann sich ja die DAB App in CarPlay von jeweiligen Radio anbieten runterladen, dann müsste es ja über CarPlay klappen.

Bin seit ewigkeiten am hin und her, mir das für meinen A5 mit mmi 2g high zu holen, aber bin mir einfach noch unsicher und selber einbauen trau ich mich einfach null

Hol es dir, kann’s mir ohne CarPlay nicht mehr vorstellen. Hatte ja auch vorher schon nen anderes Modul, da gewöhnt man sich so schnell dran. Und das Interface hier ist ja sogar einfach Plug and Play, also alle Kabel und Stecker passen 1:1 auf die Audi Stecker, kein Löten/crimpen/schneiden etc. notwendig.

@@maximusoptimusTECH Mir gehts eig ebenso, jahre lang mit Android auto unterwegs dank kenwood head unit aber beim A5 bzw einigen Autos ist das ja nimmer so einfach. Ist da wirklich kein crimpen/schneiden nötig? ich meine beim mmi 2g high war was mit einem Kabel könnte evtl auch ne andere Box gewesen sein

Ja ist notwendig, für Siri (und falls du kein Original Mikrofon hättest) brauch das Interface ein eigenes. das originale bleibt aber weiterhin für Anrufe oder Funktionen unabhängig von CarPlay erhalten.
