Audi oil check valve failure

Just like the little mesh screen filters in the back of the chain tensioners on the 3.2FSI engine from the 2005-2011 A6 C6. One little bit gets clogged with dirty oil and fails and it can cause lots of trouble. Regular oil changes are cheap compared by comparison!

How did you know that part was bad? Mine is pressed-in to the oil separator on a 1.8t. I don’t think it can be removed without breaking it.

Assuming this resulted in adequate oil flow but lower pressure than spec at hot idle especially? Any other symptoms?

Intermittent timing codes, it would be driving normal, and all of a sudden run rough and throw codes, then go right back to normal…

hey guys i have a 2001 audi 1.8t awm cyl head 20 valve engine. i replaced the head gasket on it after guy said it was over heated and had no compression, did all that starts right up but im getting no oil to the cam shafts i dont know it this was a problem before me or after either way where should i start to check on this engine? im sure the head gasket is on correct etc i did replace the chain tensioner because it was melted. thanks for your help

There could be allot of things … did you check if the oil galleys are not clogged? If it overheated to the point of tensioner melting, there may be cooked oil in the galleys… I would not use parts from a motor that was overheated especially that bad…. The metal changes properties with temperature…

@@EDGEMOTORS actually it was over heated to that point the tensioner was melted head gasket blown etc…. No I did not inspect that far, the guy wanted me to pop a gasket on and see how it would respond it hasn’t run in a year and I have no idea of the condition it was in before or if the had any other problems related to that….. it sounds like he needs an engine like I told him in the first place 🤦‍♂️
