Audi Q4 E-Tron Standard Regenerative Braking

A quick look at the regen available on a standard Q4 E-Tron 40 S-Line, name D mode and B mode.
This car has no front parking sensors, no adaptive cruise control and has the standard steering wheel with no regen paddles.

Put it in Efficiency mode and it auto regens. Pretty awesome!

In order for it to know the regen around turns do you need to have navigation?

Yeah I’m pretty sure it will need Nav as it knows when changes in the road are coming long before you can see them

How effective is foot brake on regen? It is meant to work between regen and mechanical brakes. How good does this work?

It seems to be pretty seamless. If you’re braking lightly it only uses regen but I only know that as the power gauge moves into the charging section. Braking harder uses the mechanical brakes too, but I’m not sure at what point that starts- I’ve never felt any difference.

Does B mode negate the fancy steering wheel in your opinion?

I’ve not driven one with the fancy wheel/paddles, but from my perspective I’m not sure I’d need it. If I want to coast I put it in D mode, if I want regen on I click it in to B mode. Not sure I need anything in between for the driving I do. Although it’s not as convenient having to reach for the the button it’s no harder than changing down a gear in a manual 🤔

It’s not quite one pedal, it takes you down to a crawl, around walking speed maybe? In traffic you have to use the brake pedal to stop. It does auto hold if you do a hard press on the brake pedal while stationary, otherwise when you lift off the brake it creeps like a “normal” automatic. I have to remember that when I go between this and our i3 😂😬

@@richardlee4637 I think they’re trying to not scare away “traditional” buyers by keeping everything familiar. I’m surprised one pedal isn’t offered as an option in the setup screen though, would be so handy 👍🏻

@@edinreviews looks like the same system as the enyaq, but we get a symbol telling you to lift off the pedal and if you do then it does bring you to a halt. But you be to do it exactly when the symbol comes on.
