"Audi" + "Rebuild" are probably the words i dont want to hear in the same sentence. Had an A6 C5 many years ago, transmission issues due to "sealed for life" oil... audi... never again

You forgot to read the "under extreme conditions" part in the manual book. It usually says there that you should replace your transmission fluid. They want you to not change the transmission fluid so you go back to them to replace the whole transmission or buy a new car.

To be fair most ZF transmissions are "lifetime" fill, meaning they don't "need" to be changed. My Jeep Cherokee is perfect example. I said heck with that, at 100k miles I replaced the filter and fluid. Not a cheap job.

Spun rod bearings was the cause the engine crankshaft was stuck. Crazy amount of work went into just getting to those!

The engine was seized because the main bearings failed, not the connecting rod bearings.

Increadable complexity to get the engine out. ! Compare to a beetle.... a few bolts, the complete unit comes down. It is not difficult to design a complex system. It is hard to design a simple system with all the desired functions. Now I switch to German : In den Beschraenkung zeigt sich den Meister. In the simplicity you recon the master.

I missed the diagnosis. I saw the bearings were damaged. Was the crankshaft ok? Just oil starvation? Quite a big job.

There was no diagnosis...some damaged bearings...which would not seize the engine...a video about disassembly and assembly of the r8 engine with an annoying music...

That oil was black as tar , preventive maintenance couldve avoided the issue

It's just cheap oil service. And you are such a good mechanic. I caught my mechanic putting different oil other than the one i send to him with my car so be sure to stay there till finished

Nice vid guys. What exactly was the cause of failure, was it :1) oil starvation due to dirty/sub-functional oil pump supplying lower oil pressure or 2) wrong oil type/brand 3) previously worked on this engine by other mechanics not really knowing what they are doing ? Would like to know the real cause of failure.

The owner said he was driving at high speed and rest. When he start the engine it won't start. On my opinion the owner didn't check the engine oil which life of engine itself. The level of the deep stick oil is insufficient needs additional motor oil that cause major engine failure. Another fact when driving at high speed for about an hour or normal speed when you pull up for stop to rest don't ever turn off the engine immediately. Let the engine idle for about 4 to 5 minutes so that engine will not wear and prevent damages especially on bearing, camshaft and piston including piston rings and block. The engine temperature is hotter will not moderate when you turn off the engine after high speed or normal speed for driving in more than a hour. Let it idle for 3 to 4 minutes and then turn off the engine whether gas or diesel engine.

In NYC,... We rented it for 1.7k/month and replaced it every two years . Any rebuild like that is not possible due to enormous labor cost and parts pricing policy from WAG groups in the USA 👍

Почему так думаешь? Это две рядные пятёрки на одном валу, ничего сверхестественного,так же как и v8 v6. Это старые добрые технологии и кстати очень надёжные если в правильных руках находится!☝️ И кстати некоторые как ты выразился "Васи" в гаражах,поумнее тех "Вась" которые в гламурных и красивых сервисах работают и делерских шарагах, причём в гаражах дяди Васи (не все конечно тут не спорю) могут сделать лучше и качественней ремонт,а всё потому что они делают и ремонтируют исходя из собственного жизненного опыта,а не по регламенту и времени как например у дилеров и метросексуальных красивых автосервисах.

Ese motor va a gripar los árboles de levas. No se pone pasta de juntas en las tapas de árbol de levas. Es importante fijarse en los detalles

Incorecto esa no es la tapa esa pieza sostiene los arboles de leva y luego va latapa con junta de goma si lleva silicona como el 5.7 de toyota

@@robertosequoia a eso me refiero. No se pone formajuntas entre las tapas que sostienen el arbol de levas, por eso ese motor va a tener un problema a medio plazo. Puedes poner algo de formajuntas si la tapa es solo una tapa y no pasa nada. Si dudas puedes consultarlo con una empresa rectificadora de motores(están cansados de ver gripajes en los arboles probocados por esto) cuando un mecánico ve una pequeña fuga de aceite por ahi suelen hechar pasta porque no hai junta como si la hay en la tapa superior y ese es el problema(hechan pasta negra gorda en vez de el sellante ultrafino que tiene que llevar)

@@robertosequoia bueno... Cuando separes esa tapa fijate que dentro solo verás algun residuo de un sellador de color normalmente rojo en los bordes interiores. Puede parecer una tontería pero cuando levantes una tapa que montaron con pasta (solo un poco) verás que el residuo de la pasta no quedó solo dentro en los bordes sinó que también quedó una "fina" capa entre las tapas, esa capa "fina"es demasiado gorda(en la tapa de origen no hay nada que raspar y en la tapa con pasta si). Si consultas la tolerancia del arbol de levas con las tapa verás que la medida son unas pocas micras. Hay motores como el k4m que por esto incluso encienden el testigo de presión de aceite,otros el cliente solo nota un cambio del sonido en el motor en el momento de arranque que luego desaparece, otros no notan nada, pero lo que yo he podido aprender y ver es que en motores con bastantes kms si ves residuo de formajuntas entre esas tapas los árboles salen gripados y los asientos también se ven rallados, he enviado tapas a reparar a diferentes rectificadoras y las dos dicen lo mismo. Un saludo amigo, espero recuerdes lo que digo y puedas comprobarlo algún día
