I think the RS3 launched a tad after the RS4, and there was virtually no difference in acceleration. But sound-wise, the RS3 wins every time. Can't believe how uncharacteristic the V6 sounds.

Rs3 for the win, there is so much development on it that just flashing it dips in the 10s. Idk any other car that can do this all while sounding amazing. This thing keeps pulling & pulling & pulling. 5pot, dq500 dsg, beefed up haldex, mqb platform. All the things learned from the R/S3 is put into this. What a machine!

hmm I own both... RS4 is quicker, I ran 11.8 stock in the RS4 at the strip and 12.2 in the RS3... both are tuned now, but the RS3 was definitely slower stock - my mate ran an 11.7 and 11.8 in his new RS5... RS5 and RS4 are basically the same... notably closer in a race than the RS3.... Audi might have been wanting to keep its sports Coupe (RS5) looking stronger than its estate equivalent... I can also say in a normal roll on race, the RS33 will get left behind ( more so than this video) as when in gear, in manual mode, as the RS4/rs5 has much more instant torque, while the RS3 needs more rpm to get going... both great cars.... in Matts Roll on races, he keeps leaving the RS4 in auto mode and because its a ZF auto, not a proper DCT, it just doesnt react as fast.

To be honest 12.2 vs 12.1 in just one race can be identical because this 0.1 difference can be not because car is slower it can be because of drivers reaction time, and generally drivers ability as well. It should be few drag race's and then take average result

dodiloi the differences are so tiny that they can easily have been caused by human error in the tests. They accounted for milliseconds in both tests, like for the brake test it's possible that matt just braked like 2 ms later

This is a year old but I'm glad Carwow also do the rolling race but in sport settings and manual mode to remove gearbox delays. Though judging how quick the RS4 pulled away I don't think it would have made much difference here. Still...RS3 overall is a better deal. And sounds better in my view.

It might be faster on the Autobahn but in any sort of sane driving speeds they're pretty much the same and around a track or a curvy mountain road the RS4 is faster. You get the RS6 for the extra space, equipment and build quality.

Great video. Just one comment on the rolling races. It should be a test to eliminate driver reaction or launch advantages. Having cars start in the same gear with completely different boxes and ratios is almost pointless. Race at 30/40mph at that cars optimum ratio! All you're doing here is testing kick down times in one very specific scenario!

I've got a 2018 RS3 with a stage 2 Litchfield performance tune it makes 500bhp and 480lbft it absolutely smokes everything M3,4's C63's i was on a road behind my friends RS6 and i was right on him he couldn't leave me all the torque comes in at about 3000rpm! £2000 upgrade it's a monster!!👹

I have mutual affinity to both cars, and can objectively say the RS4 is comfortably faster stock... Obviously once the RS3 is stage 1 its quicker than an RS4/M3/C63... noone is refuting that... but a stage 1 of all of the aforementioned is quicker again on a roll... The Daza motor in the RS3 is a monster, as is the stock turbo... but lets not get ahead of ourselves

I'm glad Mat mentioned driver reaction in the brake test. To make these tests a tad more scientific I reckon running them 2-3 times would be even better to account for various confounding factors. RS3 is the car I’m shooting to get next year. Hopefully Audi doesn’t do something stupid like increase the price 20 grand. I’ve read many reviews that the upgraded braking system is a must, unless you like changing pads every 3 months...assuming they were on both vehicles u tested...Great video!!

12.2 is actually pretty slow for a RS3. Many stock cars run sub 12. Also I would assume that many of the RS3 owners will tune the car and there is a lot more tuning option for the RS3. Both APR and IROZ motor sport have 1/4 mile in the 9's and are putting down 6-700whp

Late to the party...but its weird that the RS3 its already cruising in 7th gear while the RS4 its in 5th with a much higher and race-ready RPM, not that someone tricked the test, but there is a difference on how the gears are selected, or the driving mode that both cars were in, anyway...nice video, love your channel mate.

When you did the rolling race rs4 had the traction control turned off while rs3 had it on. There was also a difference in the amount of fuel in both cars. Rs4 was almost empty and rs3 almost full.

My RS3 ran stock 12.03, a stage 2 Eurocharged Canada ECU/TCU tune with E30 fuel got me 11.02.
