Thought he'd mention the front Brembo calipers when talking about the brakes. Missed his chance. Also you CAN get wheel spin in high speed corners but the traction control takes care of that. I own a 01 S8 and have gotten wheel spin on dry pavement

Somtimes the gearbox cannot stand the engine power. And the second issue is the owners. They think that this car is immortal and trying to pull its soul out.

In this case it's more because of engine power but these gearboxes are known for being quite fragile even if you take good care of them.

The issues is the oil from the factory is said to be "lifetime" No oil lasts forever. The biggest issues is as the oil ages, the oil pressure regulator bore in the valve body wears creating a grove which the piston gets stuck in. This causes the pressure to spike when the engine RPM raises. One of two things will happen. First failure point is the A clutch drum, the increase in pressure will apply far too much force on to the clutch pack cracking the grove that the snap ring sits in. As a result rendering the clutch pack useless. Second failure point is the valve body casting. Again with far too much pressure the casting that houses the pressure line for all forward gears apart from 5th and reverse blows out sideways resulting in zero forward moment while reverse working fine. Trust me, ive had both happen on a zf 5hp24a :/

​@@cameronbaker5862 I heard of this issue, so I installed: - Trans-go Valve - New ZF Valve Body Casting - ZF Filter - ZF pan gasket - Schaeffers All-Trans supreme fluid Seems to have made a difference, and hopefully prolong the life of the 5HP24A. I'm @ 107,000 miles on a 2003 S8.

5.7s, google is your friend, It's not 'supercar' like he claims, but this was also back in early/mid 2000s when 4 seconds was supreme and 3 seconds was almost unheard of. Plus this vehicle weighs ~4000 lbs depending on option(s)/trim...
