"Which means you should be able to humiliate and embarrass just about anything on the road, especially for those kids that don't know what they're racing" Is the perfect way to describe this. My 2009 A6 is the same beat, quiet and subtle enough even lowered with some performance mods- but it blows the doors off Type R's, M3's, and STIs.

Audi guy here. And a Wisconsin based one at that. Love the D2.5 S8. Great quality from this era. Exterior: 8.5 Interior: 7 Looks and feels good. No rattles but the lack of tech is obvious by modern standards. Performance: 6 It's a GT Luxo barge cruiser. Not a performance car by todays standards but still peppy enough. Mods: Eh. It's not like a B5S4 but sure, you can mod it up a bit if you want. Typically, people don't do as much of that with the NA V8 but let's be honest, most of us can't leave something completely stock. Please put a stock wheel back in and take off the windscreen decal. That looks silly. Especially in an Audi S8. Audi is, and traditionally has always been , understated class. One last minor CC, the RS5 Rotors look out of place on that era. Just my opinion.

They’re cool, but lack character, and also weigh ~1000lbs++ more than a D2. The original S8 is also feasible to maintain yourself. The amount of fuckery to work on a D3 or D4 is unbelievable. Plus, 3 pedals and a manual gearbox are available. Not sure a D3 or D4 could ever be manual swapped.

I give it a 9/10 only because the steering wheel wasn't in my own taste and it eliminated the fun to use Tiptronic controls. That being said its in way better condition appearance wise than my own S8 but, I don't mean to brag, mines a manual! I've got a 2001 S8, it's a 6-speed manual swap and yes it is in the rust belt of the United States. A manual transmission really brings this car to life and makes it very fun to drive. 360HP V8, AWD, manual transmission AND more than enough family and friends seating without complaints of leg room....what more could you possibly want in a car?!

First time I saw the movie Ronin with the Audi S8 with nitrous I fell in love with it. Audis from this time period have a look that's hard to beat.
