The "wild" driving might be explained by the fact that the black Audi wasn't made for these kind of tracks. It does'nt have the same traction setup as the following car, wich you can see is a lot lower. The turbo boost also comes very fast and sudden at a particular rpm in the black one, making it hard to control when it kicks in.

The silver & red car is an audi 90 which is basically the saloon version of the audi s2 which had the same engine as the original quattro and s1. So not surprised it can keep up

S2 was offered as limo, 90 is naturally aspirated. And to say the standard S2/4/6 2,2T is the same a Sport Quattro engine, not quite. Familiar yes, but not the same. Here is a mechanical header.

You could get S2 saloons in Europe BUT they were all B4, that 90 looks like a B3 rear end so more than likely a converted B3 90q with a B4 front, I would love to find out more about it but I haven’t been able to…..yet!

If my memory does not let me down, Dahlbäck made this car out of a more common Audi Quattro, having the Sport Quattro as an inspiration. I think he used most engine parts from a 90's Audi (maybe S2 or S4).

If I remember right this is a shortened one. So prolly a nice blend of audi 90 and coupe quattro. Check (under the tank lid) for welding marks.

@@80sAudiSport, yes. Windscreen is a bit different in coupe quattro (typ85) than in Audi 90 B2 (typ81 / typ85), thats why I did guess it is a blend of these cars.

Yes. All Audi 5 cylinders are inline. Some VW produkcts have the 2.3 V5, sort of "VR5" configuration.

Heh, depends how you regard it... Take a look at my homepage at www.ableitet.no Generally, you had the Sport Quattro as homologation roadcar + motorsport cars (rallye Sport Quattro). The S1 was an evolution special from the rallye Sport Quattro, so motorsport cars only.
