Audi TT powered Rover Metro Mid-Engine Project - MR Metro EP9

Ahh Rowdy, we named one of our cars (An Audi (obviously) Cabrio) Rowdy, and it's spawned a bit of a dynasty in the house as we have... a few :)

Well I've watched all your episodes, so I'm all caught up now. Good move changing the old rover engine for the Audi unit. Are you going to replace the quattro box for a FWD one?

I'll keep the quattro box for now at least, it fits well and I'm not concerned about the added weight at this stage. I feel like the quattro box will have had less stress in its life than a similar mile fwd box - completely unproven of course.

@@VisionAutoGarage Yeah I was thinking about the extra weight, plus removing the differential box would give you some more room. I'm pretty sure the quattro differential just unbolts, and I think it doesn't share the same oil with the gearbox, but I don't know if it's just a simple matter of fitting the driveshaft flange to the gearbox, once the quattro differential is removed. I think the quattro box is EFY and the FWD is FZL, they do look the same. Anyway, I look forward to when you tackle the gearbox, so I can take a closer look, and see how you tackle it.

Where I'm from. Cars made out of a bunch of different manufacturers parts and called Frankenstein builds. I'd name it something a long that line but more original.

Another great episode but isnt it a rear engined rather than mid engined as its in the rear sub frame?

Thanks! Mid-engine refers to the engine being between the front and rear axles. There's front mid and rear mid, fore and aft of the driver.
