Is removing the front essential for the engine removal ? I need to replace gearbox as mine has ate itself and believe easier to remove engine with box

No not at all, engine and gearbox can be lifted out of a fully assmbled car. A hoist is essential and getting the angle right :)

Great fun looking little monster, the rear differential,did you do any modifications to it ? I understand that it's not a drag car so is the stock rear sufficient to handle racing? Thanks for sharing.

Hi, i've used many different spot weld bits and HSS bits and have always ended up back with a Cobalt HSS bit and plenty of cutting fluid.

So, I’ve watched episode 21 of 21 but the series ended four years ago. Where’s the rest? What happened? How did the car end up? Pretty cheesed off if it all ended here, without resolution!

Yep, the more you look the worse it gets..my situation as well. Phase 1 - get car on road. drive a year and then tear it down for extensive body rehab. I don't THINK it's as bad as yours, but until I start to pull off body panels it will be hard to be sure...my jacking points have also been closed up...and i've found bondo in several places. Good video! Thanks, will refer to it often as I restore my 76 Midget.

@@VisionAutoGarage Taking a closer look I may get the inner boot corner pieces. There is some rust at the very back edge. Braze may be the way to do the join between the wing and apron. I see a bit of welding at the very bottom edge.

Good to see you back doing stuff and putting out videos. Regarding the reverse rotation thing, I’m fairly sure that, although the crankshaft rotates the ‘wrong’ way, they have an output/balancer shaft that’s gear driven so rotates the right way for a conventional diff. Some American KZbinrs on the “Cars and Cameras” channel built a buggy with a Chevette rear axle powered by a BMW K1000 engine and I don’t imagine the 1200 is so very different.

This'll sound utterly mental (because it is) but with an aftermarket ECU could you make the engine run backwards? All bike gearboxes i've had to bits are straight cut, so shouldn't be an issue there...

Can't you just flip the axle?
@VisionAutoGarage
@VisionAutoGarage Жыл бұрын
Flipping the axle would certainly work, but it would mean the diff crown wheel would be driving on the back side of the gear ramp, so it would wear quickly and make a ton of noise. If reverse cut gears were available it would be worthwhile i think.
