Sky News host Peta Credlin discusses ABC’s QandA program where an audience member asked a question which was blasted as “blatantly racist”.
“On ABC’s QandA program one of the audience members asked a question about multiculturalism,” Ms Credlin said.
“That was swiftly labelled as blatantly racist … I have to say I agree with her on those points about the desecration of monuments, surely it helps to have open, frank conversations about some of these difficult issues.”

I am a white guy who was regularly called white trash and, etc, and stopped as a teenager for trying out for regional selections in sport all because I am white, living in a majority aboriginal town. I have seen more racism than most in Australia, and I am white. That lady is spot on.

I grew up in an area with a large aboriginal population. They are the biggest racists i have EVER COME ACROSS. I have been called a who're and spat on, by complete strangers, simply because I was walking down a street on my lunch break on the way to pay bills. As a publicly funded media service, "our" ABC's employees are certainly entitled to their peculiar personal views but they're NOT entitled to promote those personal views at the public's expense, as so many of them are clearly determined to do. These public servants show no signs of behaving impartially, and in fact don't seem to understand the concept, therefore ABC should be funded solely by those wanting its dubious services.

Multiculturalism only works under a dominant or foundational culture. One of the reasons why Anglo-Celtic tradition survived and thrived in the past was its inclusive nature. However, I’m afraid that that kind of inclusiveness has turned into self-destruction. When plenty others have been trying to suppress other cultures, it’s the Anglo-Celtics absorbing all of them. The positive impact is tremendous, let us appreciate it again.

Multiculturalism doesn't work, its fundamentally flawed. If you had 100k people in a town split into 5 major cultural beliefs of 20k people each do you really think its possibly for that society to function without conflict and really if we're being honest because each culture will segregate themselves they will make their own rules and government so it's essentially a country within a country. The other thing is that to have true multiculturalism we would have to give up our own countries to become "equal" with the other cultures so we are no longer in control and at some point one of those cultures will decide they want to rise up and take over. You can't have multiple cultures in the same place, you have to adopt the major values of wherever you are living and if your not willing to do that you shouldn't be there.

Of course Australians of British, Irish and Scottish heritage have plenty to be proud of. We built this country, the same country that migrants come to in search of a better life for themselves and their children. And the reason that they come here is that Australia can provide the safety, security and opportunities to create a better life. Sadly what most immigrants seem to conveniently forget is that their country of origin could not provide these things.

So the immigrants that came to this country post war had nothing to contribute? Many of them were lining up at the factories for work if I remember correctly. Yes you should be proud, but don't mention the "importing of convicts" part, as that doesn't look good on your Resume 😂

@BillDrives you should educate yourself. Majority were Irish who were stealing their own food back to feed their starving families as England was taking all their crops. As a person of Aboriginal descent... my great grandfather a full blooded Aboriginal and my great grandmother, a British orphan of war that was sent here against her will. Yes, it wasn't just convicts that were sent here against their will. Convicts are as much Australian as Aboriginals as my great grandfather would say.... we were all in chains together. The person you responded to called them people not convicts. He isn't embarrassed. You can very well tell he is implying convicts.

@@BillDrives 'If I remember correctly'..... Really? You remember that period post WW2 do you? The war in Europe ended in 1945. So 79 years ago. To remember and comprehend what was going on at that time with any certainty and clarity you would need to have been at least 15 at that time. You would have to be around 94 years old minimum now for what you posted to be true. Somehow I think you might be telling fibs.

The ABC have done some documentaries on post-war immigration. I can remember one where they interviewed the (adult) children of the first installment of immigrants of that period. The angle was, the newcomers were appalled at how apparently bland our food was, and how uncultured we were. The Producers and writers obviously encouraged this kind of assessment, as if we were all dim, dull, and un-enlightened until we introduced immigration. The ABC in a sense, have never been the national broadcaster...

I feel the moment the lady on Q & A mentioned the "original British/Irish majority" she painted herself into a corner. I agree that multiculturalism is an old concept gone wrong. I heard the woman ask the question that caused her to be demonized as a racist, according to the title of the video, but I didn't witness the denunciation because it wasn't included in the piece. WTF. You have the high ground on the issue yet you resort to nothing more tan feeding a narrative. This is no better than what your counterparts on the left do. You have to include the accusation of racism levelled against this woman or it is a fiction.

I appreciate immigration, it bought the best of the world here, our diet benefitted from people bringing their culinary culture, and their agricultural techinques. We must as a nation benefit from inmigration, as a whole, it must benefit everyone, or it must not take place. Australia has the room for more people, but we do not have the infrastructure to support it, and that is the point. Our history as a nation is a good one, not a bad one. We done good.......

I think that if we are going to have this conversation. Using terms like racist doesn’t help anyone, wether you think multiculturalism is a good thing or not. The other side has to understand that even though there are good things that come out of multiculturalism , there are definitely bad things. Not every country holds our values or thinks the same as we do .wether it’s culturally, or religiously ,if we import to many people with these values we will lose our cultural values, that is a fact. Britain is the case study for this. A country without a good immigration and assimilation policy will not have the same country any more. As far as the university’s we should be teaching our students to be proud of heritage. otherwise our society will be come bitter and resentful ,and will tear down everything that makes our country great with something untested and most likely worse.
