Cracking demo dude. My upgrade will either be this or the evo 16. Maybe this for the better preamp. Just missing a 2 track in or Bluetooth playback feature (all sound interfaces miss this current ly) its a shame as used all the time for demo tracks from someone's phone

Hi Adam and thx for your video. Two questions: 1. how much gain do you used to record condenser mics? In my iD44 I have to set the knobs at 03:00 hours (and more) in order to have a "defined" and "airy" sound. 2. I noticed that listening to the recorded microphones, bass and guitar (but also "live", during the recording), passing through the channels DAW 1+2 id Mixer application, I feel like a sort of very light artifact effect like chorus/flanger + very little reverb that is not present if I listen directly from the microphone channels during the recording (always in the id Mixer). I repeat, it is very light but present. Is it normal? I hope I have explained well. Thx a lot.
@adamsteelproducerАй бұрын
Hi! 1) As much as needed. Depends on the sensitivity of the mic and the loudness/proximity of the source. If it sounds right, don’t overthink it. 2) sounds like you’re getting the audio through the iD mixer and your DAW at the same time- be sure to turn one off to fix this issue!

So the EVO16 has some competition! Which one would you get and why?
@MartyV6662 жыл бұрын
That is a tough choice. I use an EVO 8 now. I was looking at the EVO 16 because It would help my setup at home. I regularly have to change cables to set up for instruments and that would be mostly resolved with the 8 channels in the box. I do like the incredible pre amps the ID44 II offers. However, when it comes down to using those to their fullest potential I would have to upgrade the sound proofing of the room first if I wanted to record on sensitive mics there. So for me it would be the EVO 16 right now. Upgrade if and when I find a house with a recording bunker :)
@pablokoelo45492 жыл бұрын
One thing... evo is plastic and light weight and ID is full metal and heavy - build like a tank :)
@tylercrews90252 жыл бұрын
how would you compare the preamps on the evo16 to something like the id44 or the asp800?
@musiccreation11982 жыл бұрын
iD44 mkII for me. Having the ability to run my outboard hardware directly into the ADC's is very appealing despite not being able to hear the diff :). I wish Audient would allow a few choices for the HPF freq. 100hz is a tad higher than I'd like.
@mageprometheus2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Adam. The iD44 looks great but I have one Lewett mic into a new iD14 so it would be overkill for my small setup. The old evo4 is in the laptop bag ready for outdoor foley recordings. The iD14 is perfect for driving my 250-ohm cans so I won't be needing an external amp. And the song was good (including your vocals)

Hi Adam! Great video as usual! If I have a pair of Focusrite Octopres and I was wondering what would you go with them: the ID44 mkII or the Evo 16? Are the "better" preamps of the ID44 mkII worth the price difference? Any reason other than price that would justify your pick? Thanks!!
@larryroyovitz7829 Жыл бұрын
Depends on your budget. The ID series are VERY clean, and great sounding. Doesn't mean the Evo isn't. Both will accept your octopres. Its really going to come down to your budget, but both would be a win. I haven't tried the Evo, but I can assume, given it's Audient that it's pretty good. One caveat is, I find Audient to have someone shaky quality control. But that's reliability related, not sound related.

I wish they could at least put a little DSP for reverb to the singer performer.. Latency free..Would be so nice.

I have an iD44, I find that on the inputs for microphones the gain needs to be set to 8 to 10 to get a level even close to -6b to -3db, whether it's a dynamic or condenser mics i.e AKG-C214 or SE v7, using Mogami Gold cables. Would you say this is common? Would the new MKII be better?
@adamsteelproducer2 жыл бұрын
Cables don’t matter, 8 to 10 is a relative number and you don’t need your levels that high at all depending on what you’re doing. Quiet acoustic guitar? Might hit -12 or less with the right gain structure. Screaming vocals from 1 inch away? You won’t need as much gain. All sounds perfectly normal to me.

This interface has a high output impedance (22), would it work correctly with Slate VSX since they are low impedance? Does anyone have experience with those headphones?
@adamsteelproducer Жыл бұрын
22 ohms is not particularly high, and I have a pair of VSX which work perfectly well here
@Lordofmrak Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your response, I am glad if that is the case, ordered id44 mk2 and VSX and got worried, thought there would be some frequency response problems because of that x8 rule for output impedance/headphone impedance ratio in favor of headphone impedance@@adamsteelproducer
