isn't it immensely obvious that the guitars to "orphans" thing was total bollocks? Orphanages haven't existed in the UK for a long time. What we have is care homes, and care homes aren't short of physical items to entertain kids like games consoles and musical instruments. What they are short of is support & nurture from role models and adults the kids admire and find inspiring. This is perfect thing for someone like Rob , who is both a musician and proprietor of a Guitar brand to fulfil. He could have done a tour of care homes, doing music workshops or inviting children in care from all around the country to travel to visit his company/Anderton's , have a lesson and pickup a guitar over there. The whole thing was phoney self promotion from the very outset and Rob has no idea what an orphanage even is.

Retailers paying upfront and waiting for months means Chapman stock is clearly made to order! Quality issues from an Indonesian factory ... what a surprise. Chapman just puts his name on junk made in Indonesia. He does not lay down his own money. There is no QC done between the Indonesian factory and the retailer/end consumer. Rabea and the other guys used to do the QC from the 'world music' guitars that were made in Korea. I would not do business with anyone who expects me do buy to order and wait for months for a product that has no support for the retailer/end consumer. When the economy/music retail gets tighter you will see Chinese made Chapman guitars straight from the factory ... I will stack a huge wager on that! Chapman is making money so he could care less ... the easiest thing to do is *NOT* buy his junk when you can get better guitars for the same money from other companies ... *I have always voted with my wallet!*

@Tremonster2614 жыл бұрын
KDH - For many years now I have been sick of Rob Chapman. I actually used to enjoy the early Andertons video like the challenges they did etc. It was something a bit different and fun, but recent ones have just been blatant adverts for Chapman guitars (see the blindfold video where Rob has to guess the country of origin of telecaster type guitars while blindfolded and claims the Chapman ML-3 felt like a custom shop fender and it was the best one he played, then acted all surprised when it was revealed it was the Chapman and went on to swear he didn’t realise that’s what he was playing). His ego and the relentless pushing of his brand on Andertons really went against the grain for most people. For me I also just got sick of seeing his face pop up on virtually any guitar/gear related video I searched, as if he’s some sort of authority on all things MI related. Anyway, just my opinion. The turning point for me was the whole Dorje GoFundMe fiasco and the subsequent purchase of a super expensive PRS. I remember this clearly at the time - they were asking for 20k from their fans to replace stolen equipment. That begging video was deleted by Rob as he got A LOT of hate on it. So in typical Rob fashion it’s easier to just sweep things under the carpet, right? I also remember Rabea getting involved and him saying that they would use the mo ye to replace the equipment and donate whatever was left to charity. There was never any further word on which charity this money went to. Then less than a week later, Rob purchases a 5k PRS and shows it off to his fans. I’d like to point out a small thing you missed on your video. Initially Rob never mentioned anything to do with this being for his son, it wasn’t until the backlash that he said he’d purchased it as a future 18th birthday gift for his boy. Now....Rob can buy himself or his son whatever he likes, that’s his business, but what he doesn’t seem to get into his head was the timing of it and showing it off a mere week after begging for 20 grand. Even in his response to you he said ‘Yeah I bought a PRS, it’s a great guitar.’ No Rob, that’s not the issue, nobody is bashing you for buying a guitar mate, it was the timing of the purchase and reveal. I honestly thing he needs to employ a really good PR person to advise him and oversee what he’s putting out because he is clearly weak here. Other things about him that have come out over the past few weeks seem to align with my own suspicions of the guy, formulated from years of seeing his various interactions. Good on you for having the balls to speak out and I think it carries more weight the fact you admitted you were a fan of his originally and even own two of his guitars. Good luck to you mate and keep playing!

@Tremonster2614 жыл бұрын
M R Yup, the infamous begging for 17.5k video was deleted and the whole event was neatly swept under the carpet, without so much as even a thank you to those that had donated and raised nearly 8k (or thereabouts). Robs next move was to show off his brand new PRS on his Instagram - This inevitably brought about negative comments based on the events of the previous week - the next move from Rob was to reveal the guitar on KZbin, claiming it was bought for his son. Basically an attempt to turn the tables on the negative comments as the guitar apparently wasn’t actually for him, but a future 18th birthday gift for his son. Awwww how sweet. Bollocks.

I've watched Rob chapman from the beginning. By day I work in brand development and marketing and have seen the animal many times. Here we have a guy who has tried to build himself into a brand and business by celebrity but unfortunately is neither a credible businessman nor real celebrity - he's a guy who makes short videos on youtube that are monetised. This, in turn, leads to advertisers and social media companies seeking his advocacy on product endorsements and association through his followers and ultimately gifting him a 'private label guitar company'. Rob, you don't own a guitar making company you own a sales business that makes copies derived from famous designs that are made in Korea in a factory by labourers. True many makers do this but at least they originally learned the craft of instrument making before offshore mass production. Your's is akin to an Amazon business but with your own distribution network. It's always been about ego, you want to be famous. Naturally, there are going to be huge supporters of Rob's channel, hell he was one of the original guitar vloggers out there and man you can build an army with clicks. Rob you've gotten fat, fat in the head and fat in the ego and it needs to stop - not everybody is that easily bluffed by your 'celebrity' status. Get over it.

I see Rob’s back to rattling the charity tin again. He has a Kickstarter to raise 10k to record his Clockwork Wolf & Co. album, because apparently they have no money to record it (despite being signed to a label 🤷🏻♂️). Still, he has money to buy himself a 3k resonator guitar and just the other day he posted a video about buying a couple of hand-wired Bad Cat amp heads at about 2.5k a pop, so, you know, go figure. This doesn’t seem to have cause as much furore as what I’ll refer to as ‘The Dorje Fiasco’ but that’s probably because hardly anyone watches his channel now 😂

@Richard Harrold Yeah I also unsubbed after the Dorje robbery and subsequent E-begging. I still have a couple friends that forward me links in a kind of ‘you won’t believe what he’s up to now’ way. That’s how I found out about the clockwork wolf Kickstarter. On Dorje, not sure if he’s announced the demise anywhere else officially. I assume he wanted to end it on the quiet. On his guitars - no idea really. Seems to be a very limited number of models on the Andertons site, with the majority being discounted. Can’t see the brand being a thing for that much longer. I’m kind of the same, as a human being I feel a bit sorry for him, but as you say, he can only really blame himself and his conduct. It’s clear that he changed nothing after the KDH episode. People warned him he’d loose subscribers and business, but those people were just written off as trolls or as being jealous of him (a statement that still amuses me!). But ultimately, that’s exactly what’s happened.
@Tremonster2612 жыл бұрын
@Richard Harrold I hadn’t heard that. I know he talks about the fact that there new models coming this year etc etc. So maybe new guitars released under a different name? Perhaps that’s the only way forward for him at this stage..

I want to say, I used to love watching Chappers and the Captain, ... but, he has changed GREATLY. This video is confirmation that someone else sees the exact things that have been running through my mind for the last 12 - 16 months... the click baiting videos, continuously plugging his 'stuff' as if it was a favor to us. As a result, I have recently and proactively been avoiding any of Rob's recent videos where the title is vague and structure-less, because every time I watch one, there is no GREAT SURPRISE, REVELATION, or any other related matter. If you can't admit that then you have been star struck and are clearly 'fan-boying'. He is now clearly being actively deceptive and I have been aware of it way before this video was posted. I do NOT feel panhandling for an extravagant birthday gift is AT ALL noble in any way, then deleting the videos to hide the corruption is even worse. Trust me, as I have actually been homeless on the streets in the past. 'REAL' need is not "my gear was stolen" or "I'd like more voice lessons". Also purchasing that PRS "for his son (yeah, right), at the same time period, while using his 'you tube celebrity power' to beg for donations, as well as not fulfilling the promises to the children, and deleting the videos.... downright EVIL. "Dooku has turned to the Dark side. Lies, deceit, creating mistrust are his ways now." To Rob: You always seemed to be a very "good fella" and I'm sure you still are, but all the high end business you have recently been into has obviously compromised your judgement. If not, then you are a great actor and fooled a lot of people. This is my perception of you now, Rob. I know you are in a weird place where, you even said it, people 'you don't even know' are giving you crap. This VENT of mine is just to state my current perception, and my recent frustration, because honestly, I have missed the old Chappers very much. I started watching this thinking, "I don't care. I've only watched a few Anderton videos." I only knew of him as some metalhead shredder. Couldn't have cared less. Well... good, Christ; what a ripoff. Well done, my man.

This is really well made. It's sad to see that this much work is just met with a half assed reply/more self-promotion and then stormed by the "influenced". I really hope, that the threats are empty and you can move on once the situation cooled down.

I kind of had a feeling that his brand was bogus when he pulled all the high end components out of the guitars and started putting cheap parts in calling them quality when they were the same parts getting put into cheap mass manufactured models, but charging the same a big name brand with big name parts. Other than that this video has brought to light many issues that I had noticed and putting fact and evidence towards events I had wondered about for years. Sorry you got bullied keep up the content

There was a point in time when Rob's band Dorje had *more signature guitars than songs.* (2 signature guitars, 1 signature bass, 2 Dorje songs, 0 Dorje albums.) I don't care if you like Rob or not, you've gotta admit that crap is so embarrassing.

I had to laugh when Rabea got a signature model. At the time he was just a guitar guy at Anderton's. Didn't even have his own channel! Lol

I'll put my '2 cents' into one very small part this debate. Quite honestly, I don't understand enough about financial statements and accounting to comment on the documents obtained from Companies House etc. But I've listened to both this video and also Rob's response video specifically around the use of crowd funding to help with the stolen equipment, when just shortly afterwards Rob purchased a brand new PRS. Rob's only counter argument to this issue is that "the fans wanted to help, so we let them". Fair enough, but I wonder how many fans would have donated if they knew you were sitting on £000's in the bank. Literally about a minute or so later Rob even says "yes, I was featured in Forbes, and I do have money". There's nothing wrong with being successful and wealthy, and I've no doubt Rob has worked his arse off to get where he is. But it seems morally wrong to let your 'fans' foot the bill for your band's oversight in not taking out insurance when you can likely cover the loss yourself.

I think you missed the part where Rob didn't take any of the money, it went personally to the guys in the band who lost gear.

Subscribed, sir. I watched Chapman with Lee Anderton for many years. I’m very disappointed that Rob “Internet Power” Chapman sent his pawns to give you trouble. I do not watch his videos anymore, not even with Lee Anderton. I think he’s conned people out of their money and sure seems to have an over inflated sense of self importance. I have a Harley Benton SC550 as a B Stock and other than the finish imperfections it’s a great playing and great sounding guitar. I’d rather have a Harley Benton or Ibanez, Schecter, Squier or Epiphone than a Chapman guitar with zero history and quality control issues.

This video is a fucking masterpiece. I don't think people realize just how good this video actually is because it is difficult for them to hear it clearly with their heads so far up Chapman's bunghole.
