The Jaguar is so beautiful. That shape is art. Jazzmaster too, very similar. These sunbursts look so good compared to the modern guitars where 3 pieces wood with different grains are very visible.
@somethingelsedoesmatter

Oh man, I hate when the wood blocks look suuuuper different! My Jagmaster is really bad for that. My CV Jazzmaster matches fairly well, though. And I just imported a Fender Japan Traditional 60s Jazzmaster and I had to look real close to see the joints - very happy with this one! But given how many weird-looking guitars I've seen out there, you'd think they'd be more selective about which bodies get opaque finishes and which are used for bursts!

Great demo, thanks. Massive fan of both models. The JM has this high definition, fidelity and sustain. The Jag has this rubbery fluid character, with hardly any sustain (without help) . That’s 24” scale for you. Both models excel at their thing and work brilliantly in different applications.

I used to play on strat and I love surf music. One night I discovered Messer Chups and The Bambi Mollesters...when I go indie I’m into old Cocteau Twins EP so....Jazzmaster was the evidence! I ve tried a jaguar. Nice guitar with its shorter scale, but not polyvalent as the jazzmaster. If you like to play mellow tones, jazzy things or beefier blues tones...Jazzmaster is the guitar to choose between the 2. Check C.W. Stoneking LP « Gone Boogaloo » entirely recorded on a Jazzmaster with 13 flat gauges and silvertone amp. You’ll hear something very unique ever played with Jazzmaster since Sonic Youth ^^ I own a 65 american vintage Jazzmaster (exactly the same look as the 66 on this video with the white binding on the neck and dots perloid) The only « bad » thing on it (depends on what you play with) is the original bridge which was conceived for high gauges strings and not for strum. It do the job but when you play 11 or lighter it’s an issue that’s why lot of JM players replace the bridge with a mastery (about 200 bucks). I don’t know if Jaguar reissues have the same problems

I agree. I'd say that they sounded differently on clean settings, great in their own way, just different. People obsess about what amounts to a notch on a level knob, whether it's the amp or the pedal. I prefer lower output pickups myself, I think they are more toneful. But with these guitars it's difficult not to want both :) My choice would be a sunburst Jag and a white Jazzmaster with tort guard.

The Jaguar sounds terrific, but i'd say that the jazzmaster sounds with more highs and that maybe for things like captain beffheart the Jaguar would sound maybe a little better, or the jazzmaster with the neck'd sound better. But idk the mid position and the bridge to me sounds almost like elvis, who isn't bad, but im more into in other stuff for the moment, but the both are beautiful Guitars and that to me the Jaguar has more bass and mids, and the jazzmaster more high end without a good mid to compensate it Maybe in the amp it would sound better but i plug it right to the audio interface without any plug ins

Riccardo Ragni the shape is fine and I understand the ergonomics. The colours mainly. They all clash and the pickups are big, white and plastic. It’s all subjective I know. Tortoiseshell does not match sunburst. It looks shit. Les Pauls look shapely but even they have stoopid lookin humbucker rings. I reckon pickups and wiring should be rear routed and neatly project from the top, and if you want a pickguard, fine. Best looking guitar imo Fender Jag. Colours notwithstanding.
