AUDIO DUCKING in OBS - PRO Stream Audio Made EASY!

Audio Ducking in OBS, or Audio Sidechaining is one of the easiest ways you can dramatically improve your stream audio.

Can you setup multiple ducking on one source or will it interfere? I am thinking of applying two ducking to my game audio.. one for mic and one for if twitch alerts come in..

Yea you absolutely can. I do this for my game audio and Spotify and works great!

So if understand correctly, the filter is added to the secondary audio source, and then in the filter the bottom entry is the primary mic. My situation is, I have 2 mics coming thru 1 usb, and then the video camera has an audio input thru a 2nd usb. Currently I have the camera audio off completely. However the stream runs un-attended, and last week the batteries in the 2 cordless mics were dead. So, if this happens again, I would like to activate the camera audio. Let's face it, no one wants to listen to 90 minutes of silence. The camera may not have the quality of the mics, but would be better than nothing. So, I would need to enable the camera mic in my scenes, but then put a filter on it to compress the sound to 0 when there is any sound coming thru either of the mics.... ???

So yes you apply the filter to the source that you want to volume to be adjusted and choose which source will cause it to adjust in the bottom selection box. I’ve not used it in the way that you are intending but it should work. I would set the attack and release to be very low, the attack possibly 0 so it can trigger instantly. The only issue I see potentially if if there is any audio lag on the webcam as you may get an ‘echo’ if it doesn’t cut out in time against the other mics when they are in use. But you will see this straight away when you test it with the set up you are describing. Best of luck! Sounds like an interesting use case!

Hiya. This is hard to diagnose without seeing what you have set up or having detail of what steps you have taken, but I’m assuming you have added the mic as a source first into your OBS scenes? If so maybe try a full restart and reconnecting the mic just to refresh the sources.
