Thanks for your first reaction to Angelina Jordan, who will turn 18 years old on January 10th. She won Norway's Got Talent at age 8 singing jazz and has been living in Los Angeles since 2019. She signed with Republic Records (Taylor Swift, etc.) at age 14 but her wise and loving family didn't want her promoted, even to this day. She is my favorite singer storyteller of my 65 years. This performance becomes far more beautiful when you learn all the backstories. I thought "Unchained Melody" was a odd choice for this event, but have since learned the history of the song. More on that later. Certainly Angelina was thrilled to be performing back in her home country of Norway, where she is a national treasure, but this performance goes way beyond that honor. She first performed at the Save the Children event at the 2014 Peace Prize event, when she was 8 years old. Narges Mohammadi was this years' recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. Narges, is currently on a hunger strike while imprisoned in Iran, for being an activist for women's rights. Her two children spoke on her behalf at this event. Most of the performers were Iranian. We know Angelina's grandmother, Mery Zamani, grew up in Iran and was a prodigy for painting and poetry. We can imagine the conversations Mery had with Angelina about Narges. This performance had to be extremely meaningful to Angelina and her family. I hope all the angels will spread the story of Narges and her mission, with the hope for change. In 1954, Alex North was contracted to compose the score for the prison film Unchained (released in 1955). North had a melody he had written in the 1930s and composed and recorded the score when he was asked to write a song based upon the movie's theme. North asked Hy Zaret to write the lyrics. After first refusing, Zaret and North together wrote "Unchained Melody. Zaret refused the producer's request to include the word "unchained" in his lyrics. The song eventually became known as the "Unchained Melody" even though the song does not actually include the word "unchained". Instead, Zaret chose to focus on someone who pines for a lover he has not seen in a "long, lonely time". "Unchained Melody" comes from the film centered on a man who contemplates either escaping from prison to live life on the run or completing his sentence and returning to his wife and family. So indeed this song fits along with Narges being in prison and her two children, and the rest of the people who embrace freedom, calling for her release.

I love the way Ms. Jordan can transport us to the remembrances of the past, but let's not forget that this young living legend is a contemporary, a masterclass artist that is continuing to experiment with tone and technique to create a newness in music, that will dominate world music for decades to come. It will be Ms. Jordan's creativity in lyricism and musicality, that will captivate the world in the coming years, to make her name synonymous with greatness. Rb

It doesn't matter how much hype and good things you hear about Angelina, she will surpass them. Probably hard to believe, but she is a different level, no matter if it's at 7 or 17;) It also doesn't matter the genre you like. She makes you like whatever she sings. She has done so many covers of songs of yesteryear that I was aware of, but would never listen to. Turns out I do like those songs...now! lol You are in for a treat if you take the journey;) Usually only takes about 10 sec to become a fan!

What you were trying to say over and over is that the orchestra is accompanying the singer, she is not performing with the orchestra and she is not supporting the orchestra, she is the musician that is performing, the orchestra is supporting her. There was one time back when she was 8 or 9 that the musicians thought she was there for them, that was the last time she performed with them.

"Welcome to the wonderful world of Angelina Jordan!" Not only is her voice something we've never heard anything like it before she is also responsible for arranging and rearranging the music she sings since she was a young girl. When she first heard Billie Holiday sing she adored the sound of jazz and there will be, more times than not, the element of jazz in her music and I believe she will be responsible to bring back that magic sound to music lovers and to listeners who have never heard or understood that sound before. I'm sure when you watched and listened to this again for your personal pleasure your reaction was a soft whisper, "wow." Only Angelina.

My friends and Co-commentors said it almost all. But This highly valued orchestra knows Miss Angelina for many years. In Scandinavia, esp. her homecountry Norway she is very highly respected as a artist and a human (together with her japanese grandfather she helped the homeless in Oslo). Just imagine rehearsal. She is telling the orchestra how to play this song, but not in a harsh way. She converses with the conductor in a respectfull tone. She is not only a musicaly genius, she is it all around. Respectfully, Elmar from Germany

Angelina has 100s of covers and originals on KZbin and if you just randomly picked one you couldn't go wrong. I encourage you to check out a performance when she was between 7 and 9 just to see what a prodigy she was at that age. Her EP from last year is good for seeing the other end of her story with her singing her own songs. Some of them are much more modern sounding compared to all the decades-old songs she has been covering over the intervening years. Regardless I'm sure you will enjoy exploring her music.

Unchained Melody Nobel Peace Prize 2023^^^^^ This video is a masterpiece that I have watched more than 75 times. Every time I hear the KORK Orchestra begin playing, I feel a surge of emotion because I know what is coming next: the most amazing rendition of Unchained Melody by the incomparable Angelina Jordan. She has a voice of an angel and a talent beyond words. Unchained Melody Nobel Peace Prize 2023 Some ask why Angelina Jordan would pick Unchained Melody for this event, Narges Mohammadi, the Iranian human rights activist who received the prestigious award remains in Iran. One of the most popular and enduring love songs of all time, Unchained Melody, has a surprising origin. It was composed for a 1955 film called Unchained, which tells the story of a man who is incarcerated for a crime he did not commit. He yearns to be free and reunite with his wife and children, who are waiting for him outside. The song captures his emotions of loneliness, hope and longing, and has been covered by many artists over the years, but none in my lifetime of 76 years have conveyed such emotion as Angelina Jordan did at this performance. © Larry D. If you follow Angelina very much you will run across videos of her very respectfully telling them what needs to be done. Her nickname in a studio etc is the boss. A barefoot princess with a hypnotic voice. As usual, a vocal master piece. Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman. Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on KZbin. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage. Why Angelina always performs barefoot At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. PLEASE PURCHASE Angelina’s book from her merchandise store on her official website, angelinajordanofficial Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old. At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried. Angelina had turned 8 years old for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition and was not performed in front of an audience. In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them. In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists. When asked what she would like to do with the prize money she won (500,000 kroner or about $80,000), Angelina replied, “I want to give it to the poor children”. Angelina had become a star in her native Norway and her videos on KZbin went viral. She gave a few concerts during the summer of 2014 while 8 years old. In December 2014, Angelina realized a life-long desire to sing at the Save the Children's Peace Prize Celebration which is part of the Noble Peace Prize celebration. Angelina’s family took her to United States, Brazil, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Russia, South Korea, Singapore among other corners of Earth, to perform for heads of state and to help raise money for charity. All before Angelina turned 14. At age 9, Angelina recorded a music video covering the 1956 Jay Hawkin’s classic, “I Put a Spell On You”. The video begins by showing Angelina writing her “wishes” for how she wants to perform the song. Angelina has always created her own arrangements for her cover songs. At age 10 and just a week before her 11th birthday, Angelina recorded a demo of “I’m Still Holding Out for You”. Her family never pursued having that recording officially released but someone leaked it on a KZbin video. Thankfully, everyone involved with that song is now ok with the leaked version. Many angels (fans) believe this is one of Angelina’s best performances. When Angelina was 11, she performed a number of concerts in Norway with a jazz/rock band. Those concerts included up to 14 songs, each remarkably performed. Angelina seems to be at her best when on stage, never nervous, only 100% confident. Also at age 11, Angelina recorded her “It’s Magic” album which has, at times, been in the top 10 best selling jazz albums. On June 27, 2018, at age 12, Jordan performed Frank Sinatra “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London. She has said that was the high point of her young career which was already in it’s 6th year. During 2018, Angelina lost her paternal grandfather, her friend Avicii and one of her idols, Aretha Franklin. She did a moving tribute for each. In 2019, Angelina accepted an invitation to compete in the 2nd season of America’s Got Talent (AGT), The Champions. She had, since age 3, wanted to perform for Simon Cowell and she earned his praise with her genius arrangement of “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The surviving members of Queen loved it so much they put a link to it on their Twitter. Angelina was eliminated after covering Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”. Angelina’s family refused to sign any agreement with AGT. Angelina, before age 14, had covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, spanning at least 8 genres, all of which are available on KZbin. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. On KZbin, search on The Complete Works of Angelina Jordan as Rusty Shackleford has put all songs in one file and has a complete playlist in the description of that video. The pandemic hit shortly after her performances on AGT and likely caused a change of plans by her family, most notably her Uncle Michael who is her manager. Her family agreed to a contract with Republic Records in August 2020. Republic Records declared Angelina Jordan their highest priority new artist. Reportedly her family requested Republic to allow her as normal a childhood as possible and therefore have yet to fully promote her. During the pandemic, Angelina was often seen buying meals for the homeless on the streets of Los Angeles. In November 2020, Angelina released “Million Miles” which she wrote after the passing of her beloved maternal grandfather. She dedicated the song to anyone who has ever lost a loved one. Angelina had previously released, 3 other original songs: “What is Life”, “Oslo” and “Shield” In April 2021, her original “7th Heaven” was released. A jazzy, danceable, inspiring song. Angelina has posted numerous short performances on Tik Tok and Instagram. Angelina had concerts in Norway in July 2022. In December 2022, Angelina performed at the Asian American Awards in Los Angeles. On 2/27/23, Angelina performed at the FIFA Awards ceremony in Paris, France, with a viewing audience in the millions. On May 5th, 2023, Angelina released her original "Love Don't Let Me Go". On July 23th she released her orginal EP “Old Enough”. Angelina perform Concert at the Music Hall in Portsmouth New Hampshire on Sept 22nd, 2023. It Was a great concert, who was not and could regret it, a big mistake. On 10/27/23 she released her new orginal singiel “Our Time”. In November 2023, she was presented as a debutante at Le Bal des débutantes in Paris. On 12/08/23 she released new Marry Christmas EP “Driving Home for Christmas”. On 12/11/23 she sing in Oslo at the Nobel Peace Prize Celebration - Unchained Melody tribute to 2023 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Iranian human rights activist Narges Mohammadi.

The beauty and problem of Angelina is you cannot understand her voice with one song. She can flex her vocal character any which way she pleases. If you compare this song with her recent EP. OLD ENOUGH. Where she mixes genre cocktails of Soul, R&B, Jazz, Pop, and even one line of lyrical rap. It makes the choices for this song even more remarkable. She makes the EP cohesive with vintage earthy seductive vocals and great beats. Whether its her rasp unique vibrato her voice is always instantly recognisable. She is the most predictably unpredictably brilliant artist whose ability to convey emotion is addictive.

The number of interruptions and their randomness was noticeably distracting. It would be a little less bothersome if the video was backed up a bit to provide a bit of continuity to these chopped up segments of what is a flowing masterpiece. Having said that, HC… your insight and analysis was pretty good and accurate. My biggest problem with his very frequent interruptions was that he frequently did it at the start of a very important moment and he NEVER backed the video up when he started it again. Stopping to make a comment is one thing; but doing it in the middle of a phrase or run is never good, and then to not back it up to the beginning of the phrase or run is NOT good!

She did an EP 6 songs called Old Enough in september 2023 but 10yrs i have been watching Angelina as I live in Nnorway and 7yrs old she was on Norways Got Talent and won so she has been in Sweeden first Nobel Peace Prize concert at 8yrs old and the only one to be invited to sing twice.❤❤

Given the gravity of the seriousness for which the Nobel Peace Prize winner is having to endure in her country of Iran, Angelia’s version of this iconic song was excellently and masterfully performed. Angelina’s grandma, Mery Zamani is Iranian. The combination of her highly developed sensitivity, ear, instincts, intuition, empathy and feel is unequalled. Her incantation is the definition of perfection.

This is for the Nobel peace prize concert in Oslo Norway Angelinas home Town but now lives in LA as english is her 3rd language so after signing for Public records needs to improove her english and this is a more slowed down version in respect to the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize as she is in prison missing her. Twins and husband after beeing in prisoned for 31yrs for womens aktivist trying to help the womens rights in Iran.Angelina is from Oslo but her grandmother was born in Iran and Angelina does a lot of charity performances and enviromental causes contributiobs so this song is showing her love and respect for Norges Mohammadi❤❤

Hi Buddy, I can tell you know alot about music arrangement. Angelina does too. Her cover of Adeles Million Years Ago at age twelve is my all time favorite. It has everything. Actually better than Adele IMHO. Adele retired months after Angelina covered her song Easy On Me. Adele seen the writing on the wall ? Time to hang it up. Adele is a great song writer. Maybe keep writing and leave the singing to Angelina ? A Winning Combo ? Great Reaction You explain things so folks like me can understand. Thanks.

Welcome to “The World Of Angelina Jordan Astar” (full name). “The Barefoot Princess With The Velvet Voice And A Mona Lisa Smile”. Born Jan 10, 2006 in Oslo Norway. From her audition on Norway’s Got Talent (2014 - age 7 - Gloomy Sunday "Billy Holiday") through the final on America’s Got Talent The Champions (2020 - age 13 - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road "Sir Elton John") and the 130+ videos in between you will not be disappointed. This includes three originals song: “What Is Life”, “Oslo” and “Shield” Since then she has done many new covers and now her new singles "Million Miles" and “7th Heaven”, along with her movie soundtrack "Mercy" from the motion picture “The Hating Game”. As well as her brilliant version of Elvis’s “Suspicious Mind”. She released her latest album “Old Enough” and it is definitely some of her best stuff. My personal favorite is her cover of Lana Del Rey's "Born To Die". Although the soundtrack is really growing on me.

Hi welcome Would you like to hear my 100 top 3 list or...just skip to my 35 number 1 song list. Where ya got 12 years and over 200+ songs it gets ummm blurry. Lol there will be several Angels with lists compiled some in chronological order. Started singing at 18 months influenced by an early upbringing of jazz artists of grandma Meri musical taste and thanks to Meri, an artist herself, has filmed most of Angelina life and performances and music videos.

Welcome to Angelina's world. One producer commented that her live performances sound prerecorded because she has has such control of her voice. It would have been nice if you had concentrated on that and avoided all the side notes..not sure how your obsession with woodwinds is the least bit relevant to the singer.

For more information on Angelina’s history, see Angelina Jordan’s Wikipedia Page - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angelina_Jordan Below is a list of my recommendations for doing reactions to Angelina Jordan. 1. For the initial shock you should start with ‘I Put A Spell On You’ She was 9 years old when she did this. The link for this song is - kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKipnaJ5hb2tedU 2. The next song you should react to is an Elvis cover ‘Suspicious Minds’ - kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIXFfJuhmMqFZpI - this will show you how her voice and presence has developed. 3. To follow her growth react to the following songs in order: At age 6 - ‘I Who Have Nothing’ her first time in a studio - kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJu0i354pbuUm9U At age 7 - 8; Norway's Got Talent - kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmTKhJulbt6Zbpo At age 8 ‘What A Difference A Day Makes’ -kzbin.info/www/bejne/kITJmHZ_fMlqoZY At age 10 ‘Feeling Good’ - kzbin.info/www/bejne/pmnOcn9jqKx9rpo At age 11 ‘I’m A Fool To Want You’ - kzbin.info/www/bejne/iXjbYZegjbmLh80 She also did this during Norway’s Got Talent, but she did it A Capella. At age 12 There are two songs of note here: ‘Shield’ which is one of her originals - kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooLXhpWMgMdjrNU She was invited to perform at Quincy Jones’ 85th birthday in London she sang what is sort of her anthem (she has sung throughout the years many times). This is the rehearsal for the show but it is excellent - kzbin.info/www/bejne/hX7OqKKnirOBoac At Age 13 she performed two songs on America’s Got Talent - and one other song of note - ‘I Have Nothing’ is a tribute to Whitney Houston - kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4XGp6mFa6dmf9E On AGT ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ for which she got the Golden Buzzer - kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3eTe4lobduagtk On AGT ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’ in the finals - kzbin.info/www/bejne/aomyfqahnLNrrZY - but she didn’t win. A lot of people are upset about that, but I think it’s the best thing that happened to her. At Age 16 she has three new covers. The newest and the best is an Elvis cover ‘Suspicious Minds’ - kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIXFfJuhmMqFZpI She has released a new version of I Have Nothing - kzbin.info/www/bejne/n4mTmGxvn7NlbLc - which is probably the best song she has done so far. The other is ‘My Funny Valentine - kzbin.info/www/bejne/mIjMfYKkfa-Mrsk Angelina dropped her latest song on May 5th 2023 it is the first song off her new album which will be out soon. The name of the song is ‘Love Don’t Let Me Go’ - kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4aZiIyVr52Jq5o - She wrote the song and in an interview said that all of the songs on the new album will be songs she wrote and had a major part in their arrangements. She has done several Adel covers and one other song of note - ‘Million Miles’ - kzbin.info/www/bejne/aXzbp6qrj5yie68 - this is an original that she wrote in honor of her grandfather after he passed away. It is also the first song released under her contract with Republic Records. Rusty Shackelford has a KZbin playlist that includes all of her videos, including TikTok and Instagram. I have a playlist of Angelina's videos which has over 200,000 views (Angelina Jordan Playlist by Terry M.)

How in heaven's name can you assess how AJ is singing or what she's singing if you interrupted the performance every 10 or 20 secs? ESPECIALLY if this was your first introduction to her. You talked so much about everything and nothing that I am completely sure you missed the beauty, sincerity and emotional hold of the performance. I understand about being a reactor, giving your opinion, trying to avoid copyright and yada yada yada but at some point...just listen. No disrespect meant, just my opinion and advice, take it or leave it.

you're an audio engineer? LOL! That doesn't know when to stop & comment? Doesn't know what a phrase is? Doesn't know AJ has played many times with the KORK orchestra? Doesn't know she is doing this in the same key the Righteous Brothers did it in? AJ is a mezzo soprano that can sing 'How Great Thou Art' in the same key as Elvis & yet hit all the high notes at the end of this piece, 'Unchained Melody' .....BTW the musicians that play with AJ affectionately call her "Boss" bc she is involved in every aspect of her performances including the arraignments.
