Audio Rate Modulation of Drums with Tape & Microsound Music Machine

One very flexible way to alter a sound is by modulating it with audio. Depending on the strength of modulation and the relative frequencies of the sounds, there is a wide range of timbral colors available. It’s fun to find zones of legibility and zones of noise in this cross-dimensional mesh.

One method: use the EOSG to clock a TEMPI, and then patch a /8 channel of the TEMPI to the Morphagene SHIFT input. :D

I set the phase option for the R input on Morphagene the day after the patch came out, but then promptly forgot it exists. Have to try that today. Inspiring vid.

It's more obvious on material with discernible pitch. definitely worth trying! I like to patch a sine wave through an optomix before the phase mod in so I can control the depth, send "plings" etc. :)
