I think this is one of the coolest tutorials you’ve done, yet. Bravo!

So many evocative sounds in this video and it's fascinating to hear what's lurking in the microsound universe of the shared system.

if that green sleeve is part of a jumpsuit then it's probably a dope jumpsuit, so nice jumpsuit (if applicable).

this video was originally going to be a cover of "greensleeves" but i kinda failed at that so here you go

@@MAKEN0ISEMUSIC you can redeem yourself with a gabber cover of Greensleeves realized on the shared system as long as you post it within the next 24 hours. and a full body tracksuit photo duh.

Wonderful! I’d always equated microsound with granular synthesis, but now I see there’s so much more to it. I need to read the book!

The book is a must-read. It's almost unbelievable that a book exists that goes into such depth on this topic.

Excellent video as always. This is sound design heaven, or should I say Universe. It would be fun to patch this into a SETI observatory dish and watch what they make of these extra terrestrial transmissions.
@robertsyrett19925 жыл бұрын
For some reason, the green sleeves really complement the pink of the patch cord. Love the vibe of these patches, by the way. I have been making very similar textures sampling the 0-Coast with the Digitakt and layering free-running loops.

I don't own a Tempi or Rene (yet!) so I'm not 100% certain if there'd be any issues with this, but might I suggest a follow up on using them to do things like "pulsar masking", as Curtis talks about in Microsound? I'm willing to bet they'd both be great at it.
@MAKEN0ISEMUSIC5 жыл бұрын
If we do a followup it will probably be awhile so I'll post a couple ideas here. You could use TEMPI or René's clock/gate outputs to open a VCA with the pulses in its input. This would let you use the clock or gate stream to "mask" the pulsar train. Roads also suggests a probability-based masking, which you could create by using a random voltage and your chosen probability voltage (maybe René sequence output) as the inputs to a comparator. Check out the MATHS comparator patches in its manual for some potential methods.

let's talk more about this green sweatshirt. I am a big fan. Does it deserve its own video?

It's an Adidas track jacket I purchased in Washington, DC in the summer of 2003. I had buyers' remorse because at the time I had never spent so much on a garment. But I still wear it 16 years later, so I think it was a good purchase actually! -W

By this point my GAS levels are high and I'm stuck between building another new system or buying the shared system. Is it possible to buy a custom one? For example I'd love the qpas in the system as well as the erb verb and morphagene. I know the morphagene and qpas don't come with it by default, is this a possibility?
@MAKEN0ISEMUSIC5 жыл бұрын
Actually the Morphagene and Erbe-Verb do come standard in the Shared System. And, you are in luck, because we do custom systems. Check the sales link at the bottom of any page on the Make Noise website, and ask about the system configuration you'd like. There won't be room for a QPAS without removing something else, unfortunately. For this video I put it in the Echophon's place, but it's a tough decision.

Can't get Qpas anywhere in EU on short notice. :-(

Personally, I find this type of sound very exciting, but luckily there are many examples of the Shared System being used for different things. Many of our viewers also like this channel, for example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kHmkdJenlJesf7s
