Wow where does time go. I was 26 when the Breakfast Club came out and now I'm 62. Still love the song...and it makes me think of the memories of life that happened in-between. 22 years in the Army, raising 4 kids and married 33 years. Wow - I'm blessed. It very nearly didn't get recorded. It was originally offered to Simple Minds who turned it down, then offered to others who also turned it down. Simple Minds singer Jim Kerr was persuaded by his wife (Chrissie Hynde of "The Pretenders") to record it as she liked it. The rest, as they say, is history. I was 24 in 1986 when the movie was released and became an icon of the '80s.

I'm just a Zoomer from 2000 who grew up listening to a lot of 80's and 90's music and classic rock and this song always made me tear up a little bit simply because something about it always just connected to me. And I always said to myself, "this is going to be the song that I hear playing in my head whenever I have to say goodbye to someone I love or move out to live on my own and start my new journey." And then the Transformers Movie Bumblebee came out. I never saw Breakfast Club and haven't watched many movies since 2018 but that was the most recent movie I watched in full since my mom got it for me back when it came out on DVD. It was just sitting there on the shelf in its original packaging gathering dust and one night I decided to finally watch it. So just know that I feel that same emotional connection with that movie scene and this song like those of you who did with other forms of musical and theatrical media. And I don't know why but every time I sing this song my voice still waivers and my face still quivers like I'm about to cry. As if I'm saying goodbye to someone I truly hold dear to me who I've know my whole life. I think that's how you know that's what makes good music. You truly feel like you're there in that moment that's being sung. And then even after the song ends, the music is still there as you look up into the sky as the light shines down from that bright cloudy blue sky with that gentle wind blowing through your hair and maybe a rainbow soars across the horizon into tomorrow. 🌈☁️ 🏞️🌄🏙️ ✨🧑🏾🍃

I get that you don’t understand but don’t speak badly about the younger people. They don’t understand our type of music as much as we don’t understand theirs. That’s why the world is beautiful; we are all different:)

Just watched the Breakfast Club again . Probably for 100 times and I thought I was the only one until I went into my 55 year old brother-in-laws and he was watching it he said this is only the 100th time I watched it . My sister has a keeper. Still one of my all time favorite movies ever. Think I dated John bender in high school.

We always tell those who are working towards something big to not forget about us but we forget that the work doesn't stop when they make it..They were focused while working and they have to stay focused until they get to a certain level, then everyone gets mad when there are no hand outs.. Choose something to work on within your circle and put it together so that the hate can be put to rest..only God can hold us all in his hand not one of us who's tired of living a certain way 🙌🏿🙌🏾🙌🏻🙌🙌🏽 Simple Minds Thank you for this one God bless you and yours daily ❤❤❤❤

I remember this song from my youth and all the memories since then. Raising a family, loves, and loves lost. Career ups and downs. Time really flies. Just last month i died in a car accident. Word of advice cherish your time on earth and don't drive because you might be decapitated in a 4 car pile up. 🙏

“Dear Mr. Vernon, We accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it was we did wrong. What we did was wrong, but we think you’re crazy to make us write an essay telling you who we think we are. You see us as you want to see us. In the simplest terms. The most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each other of us is a brain And an athlete And a basket case A Princess And a criminal. Does that answer your question? Sincerely yours, The Breakfast Club.”

Here's the funny part. When I was in high school, I was involved in the drama department. One of our school plays, had a character who inspired Bender from Breakfast Club, leather jacket, scarf, everything. Anyways, one of his lines was: "I'm taking a nap. I'm outta here." This song played as he exited the stage.

Won't you come see about me? I'll be alone, dancing, you know it, baby Tell me your troubles and doubts Giving everything inside and out and Love's strange, so real in the dark Think of the tender things that we were working on Slow change may pull us apart When the light gets into your heart, baby Don't you, forget about me Don't, don't, don't, don't Don't you, forget about me Will you stand above me? Look my way, never love me Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling Down, down, down Will you recognize me? Call my name or walk on by Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling Down, down, down, down Hey, hey, hey, hey Ooh, woah Don't you try and pretend It's my feeling we'll win in the end I won't harm you or touch your defenses Vanity and security, ah Don't you forget about me I'll be alone, dancing, you know it, baby Going to take you apart I'll put us back together at heart, baby Don't you, forget about me Don't, don't, don't, don't Don't you, forget about me As you walk on by Will you call my name? As you walk on by Will you call my name? When you walk away Or will you walk away? Will you walk on by? Come on, call my name Will you call my name?

The genius of that movie is that it represented every social clique, not just the A-crowd, to explain that every kid hurts in their teen years. A deeper storyline than many realize.
