Ordering these for my ‘05 Tacoma Access Cab very soon. I have a pair of Audiofrog GB12D4 Subs in the rear with all cheaper infinity door speakers…yes time to upgrade my door speakers to all Audiofrog. 😎
@uptobatentertainment3 жыл бұрын
You will love them & they will be a huge upgrade as long as they are installed well with nice adapters & dampened doors! I run my active via Helix DSP 3 and Zapco AP 150.4 amp. Subs are 2 JL W7 10s ported tuned around 31/32 Hz. I have other Vids on my channel of distance tests and it car demos. Obv not the same audio quality as being there in person but good enough to represent the install and sound. Enjoy your new upgrade 😁💪

@@uptobatentertainment awesome thanks. I really hope that not only will I have an ultimate SQ beautiful sounding setup…but I really hope this setup really hits very hard as well as I mostly listen to death metal very adrenaline pumping. I want my music really cranked!!! Audiofrog is well known for their SQ beautiful sound…I would imagine the output (with right amp and setup) will be banging hard as well. :)

Hey just fyi, when you say "midrange" driver, it's ideally better to smaller driver, they're, more accurate, generally. 3" is what I'd be using. What you have there is something for a 2 way system, so it has to be bigger to give good midbass, But yeah I wouldn't be looking at 5.5 in her for dedicated midrange.

I wonder how those compare to the infinity betas /jbl arenas....or morel supremos or focal utopia m? I have been researching car speakers and I noticed only high end speakers tend to have neodymium magnets with aluminum basket frames with either paper or carbon fiber woofer with butyl rubber.
@uptobatentertainment2 жыл бұрын
The jbl and infinity are cool. Would never spend 2500 on the beta when micro precision & scan speak and Audiofrog are around for more accurate speaker ratings and audio reproduction. The focal utopia m is special.. the old utopia are bright, not my cup of tea, but great drivers. Install, crossovers ( DSP really helps ) and correct gain staging can make any car sound good! It’s rly up to your budget and wants. I over spent for my system, I would have done things a bit different today ( pandemic & expense related )
@lagunacorona2 жыл бұрын
@@uptobatentertainment so have you heard those arenas or betas?
@uptobatentertainment2 жыл бұрын
@@lagunacorona I have not heard either. If you have either and are local to ATL I would love to hear them. I googled & searched “ DIY mobile audio “ forums for info & reviews. Scan speak Illuminators on a helix DSP is way lower price point than beta or arenas. There awesome components like morel, audible physics, Audiofrog & scan speak for $500 -1000. Helix DSP for integration is another 4-800 dep on model and accessories. I would rather have $600-1800 invested for dsp + speakers than just $2500 on speakers. I don’t think $2500 speakers will be better than speakers + dsp + leftover $ for proper install!

Which amp are you using? Just a 4ch? 1.2 for mids and 3.4 for the tweeters?
@uptobatentertainment3 жыл бұрын
Helix DSP3 feeds Zapco 150.4 AP a 4 ch amp. Ch 1 & 2 are GB60 Mids & Ch 3 & 4 are GB15. Left mid Ch1, Right mid Ch2, Left Tweet Ch 3, Right Tweet Ch4. The helix is a DSP which does all my channel routing / assigning, crossovers ( filters ), per channel EQ, channel output levels ( keep at close to zero for best SQ & use lower “ gain “ on your amp ), Time alignment, & much more. Amazing processor and amp combo! Amp is pricey but is a high quality class AB with high quality low tolerance performance parts. I run digital audio into the processor via USB output on my iPhone using the Apple camera kit adapter & a 10 ft USB cable which plugs into the helix DSP 3. The helix DSP has rca outputs that feeds my Zapco amps.

Legatia which version? The SE copper ones I have heard do not do the rated specs free air or in a door. Hybrid Audio HQ is 45 min away from so lots of Hybrid audio around me. Have heard most of em from imagine to unity to Legatia L3 SE. Haven’t heard the L4. Audio development? Is that AD idk about those. The tm65 mk3 prob the best but have a long way to go to keep up with SQ companies like Audible Physics, Hybrid, AF, Scanspeak, JL C7, etc. & I like Stereo Integrity and what Nick designs. Have heard his personal car as well.

How do you like these compared to something like the Hertz Mille or Morel Virtus? I’m stuck on what to go with for front components lol I like a warmer sound, as opposed to the Focals like you mentioned in a comment earlier.

TheNorthwestHawk I love these! Mine are powered off a Zapco 150.4 AP Class AB amp. I run 2 JL W7 10 subs sealed. These sound honest and true to the music. The hertz Mille Are hype and bright like focal from my experience. A lot of ppl like that type of sound tho. I am an audio engineer and want the truest to source play back. For a car a dsp is needed for this. I wouldn’t purchase speakers of this caliber without running a dsp. Look at Mosconi, helix, idk maybe Zapco, I had one and had issues but that may have been my installer cuz I have had lots of issues with my install. I like these speakers a lot and they can play low and get decently loud for me in my active DSP system. Hope this helps, take care!

TheNorthwestHawk depends on the pricing and savings for the NIB 3 way. If you don’t have 3 way setup you can do tweets In the a pillars, that’s where my gb15 are. I could run 3 way if I wanted I would have to add another amp or swap up to the Zapco 150.6 AP. These speakers sound awesome you will love them if you purchase them. My doors are done with soundskins pro. Hope this helps!

Which 3 way set do you recommend me? JL C7 or AF GB? I Already have a dsp Alpine pxe-0850s, what do you think about this dsp? I heard the GB60 can handle up to 200 rms, it's true?
@myboy0514 жыл бұрын
Definitely the Audio frog over JL speakers.
@uptobatentertainment3 жыл бұрын
No it can’t handle 200 RMS ( all day every day with no damage to the speaker ). Maybe for a quick burst of crossed above 100 Hz so there is minimal cone movement but if you run these for SQ or to get the most out them you will cross them as recommended by Andy or go 60 to 70 Hz if you have a fine trained ear. I listen to all genres but mostly bass heavy genres cuz I have subs as well and people think my GB60 are subs cuz they play low and loud. I’m crossed at 70 Hz right now Helix DSP 3 & they are in good 1/2” speakers rings bolted to the door attachment w/ lots of Soundskins pro. So a lot of work goes in to getting the most out of a speaker. Also maybe that person has GB60 in a sealed enclosure which would be rare but even then it would rarely get 200 W RMS cuz wattage is frequency dependent for the most part. I would recommend both. AF made in China, JL assembled or made in Germany if that matters to you. I have not heard the C7 but that’s one speaker I really wanted to hear but wasn’t available to public yet when I put together my system. I also recommend Scanspeak illumnator & revelator, Audible physics speakers.
@uptobatentertainment3 жыл бұрын
That’s a great DSP they all do the same functions when you are at that level. The SQ dep on the converter & circuitry, again Alpine is known for their R & D so I don’t think you will have an issue. Software & Remote control are other huge factors for DSP. Hertz H8 for example is bright, accentuated highs, indices some slight alt whine no matter how you ground it or run your cables. Comparing the DSP I have owned and used Zapco Z8 IV II, Hertz H8, & Helix DSP3. I prefer Helix DSP to all. The Zapco has great SQ but did not integrate well into my OEM system. SW was a little buggy. Helix, easiest to setup SW and install the unit, nice remote, great SQ, lots of features in the SW.

I`m considering ordering these from Crutcfield but I have a question. Since these are not inexpensive speakers, does Crutchfield put the Audiofrog box inside of another box for shipping or do they just shipped them in the Audiofrog box that they come in. Thanks for you help.
@uptobatentertainment6 жыл бұрын
CDP What’s good !!! Yes they do ship in a protected non labeled box. However if you watch my other Unboxing vids the UPS idiots left the huge box by the street, no notice, knock, or verification so be on the lookout if you decide to order. Crutchfield text service was an hour late. Good thing I saw the UPS truck leaving or my GB60 and GB15 would have been sitting there awhile. If you order the tweeters, be careful, they are set screw. One of my GB15’s set screw and allen tool stripped out the first time testing speaker wire which magnetized the set screw to the inside of the tweeter making it unusable. Could not get it un magnetized. Crutchfield swapped immediately 🤠 Andy the owner quickly answered all my emails before purchase. After purchase he hadn’t answered my emails about speaker wire & something else I forget. Then the tweeter thing happened. After 5 emails I quit emailing him. 1 & 1/2 months later he finally responded. I need to email him to ask if I can use wire ferrules for install, wonder how long that will take 🤔 I chose the GB over JL Audio C7, Hertz Mille Legend & Mille Pro, Audison Voce, and several Focal I listened too. I didn’t get to hear the AF GB or JL C7. I hope to have everything installed soon. Trying to do figure out sound Deadening situation first 😂 Sorry for the length, Have a great day
@blkngwinn6 жыл бұрын
Hello and thanks for replying back to me. I really appreciate the info on shipping and I agree with you, very dumb for Crutchfield to not require a signature for delivery because these drivers are not cheap. I might just order them from Abt instead of Crutchfield because the prices are the same, both of them are authorized dealers, but Abt will sometimes give a better price if you talk to an internet sales person via their chat feature on their website. Sounds like you`re well on your way planning out your system just like me. I`m doing a three way in my 2016 F150 SuperCrew using the GB60, GB25, & the GB10 all active of course and a pair of the GS62 coaxial for the rear doors. My sub system will consist of two JL Audio 10 inch TW3`s and everything will be powered by JL HD amps and two of the JL TwK DSP`s. I also agree with you on the new JL C7`s....very interesting indeed. The HERTZ Mille Legend are very, very nice and sound awesome. The Focal K2 3 way system is very nice but the drivers have weird impedances if you don`t use the included crossovers so going active is out of the question. Strange that the Focal Utopia BE uses a set screw terminal similar to the Audiofrog. Funny that you mentioned the problem you had with your first set of tweeters as when these first came out, several high end installers as well as reviewers were concerned about the set screw terminals being so small and stripping them out would be very easy to do. Audiofrog mentioned that they were going to address this issue. It would be so nice if they had spring terminals like Hybrid Audio or as you mentioned, a spade would also work. Sorry for the long reply and again, thanks for replying back to me.

CDP What’s Up!!! Wow that’s an awesome system you have planned for your Ford truck. Have you seen the new JL Audio VXI Amps? www.jlaudio.com/car-audio-amplifiers-vxi They have the twk88 dsp built in & use the same software as Twk88. You may still need the JL Audio Fix82 or 2 Of them if you are not replacing the OEM Head unit. I can’t replace the OEM Head unit. Usually OEM Head unit’s output is heavily eq’d. The fix82’s can flatten that signal for the VXI amps so you start with a clean full range signal. That OEM source output can be tested with equipment to see what the signal is and what solution is needed. You could purchase or the 800/8 VXI & run your 60’s, 62’s, 25’s, & 10’s active. Then go with the 1000/1 vxi for subs. Honestly, I would not purchase the GS62 for rears, will affect sound quality and tuning. I’m not running rears even tho I always have 😵😀 Get your active GB series 3 way front tuned & I highly doubt you will want rears. Less speakers easier the tune as well. If it doesn’t suit you after tune then get it retuned til you love the sound. The $ for the rear speakers could go towards the new vxi amps and fix82 if you need those. Are you doing the install yourself or having a reputable shop do it? I was injured & handicapped Nov 2015. I’m almost back to 100% so I’ll prob have a high end shop do my 2015 Q40 install, I’ll do the sound deadening. I really want a false floor trunk build with a 4th order ported thru the ski pass lol. Box I have now is slot ported from previous car. I need to get it installed and running first before I start going down new boxes and sub rabbit hole lol Let Crutchfield know you want a signature for delivery. You may have to pay $5 dollars for it, I would. Also I have never shopped with ABT, Crutchfield swapped the stripped & magnetized GB15 no questions asked & wanted to send the new set out before I shipped the defective set back.. One of the 5 emails I sent Andy at Audiofrog was about GB15 with spade or push terminals, or soldering with ferrules, that went unanswered. You may can get a cheaper price if you call up there & pay with CC, I paid with PayPal so they had to pay fees for the sale. I don’t mind the length I love talking car audio or pro audio! Have a great day 😎

Sounds like we`re in the same boat regarding the OEM head unit. Sorry to hear about your accident. I hope your recovery is going well and that you`ll be back to 100% very soon. . My vehicle came with the Premium Sony system so the factory head unit must remain but it`s not really a big deal because i`m using the PAC AmpPro interface which will give me 6 low level 5 volt pre amp outputs as well as the option to go optical out which is what i`m going to use. I was considering the Fix 86 but that was before the PAC interface came out so no more worrying about summing. I saw the announcement of the VXi amps last week and they do look very cool and the ability to go completely digital without using any RCA`s is very intriguing to me. Optical out of my PAC interface into a VXi amp and then ethernet into the optional VXi Hub for multiple amps. The only thing that I don`t like about the VXi amps is their power ratings not being as clean, efficient, or as powerful as the HD amps. Yes, they`re close but you just can`t beat the RIPS and Single Cycle Control in the HD amps. I`m from the old school and I just prefer to have my amps doing what they do and have my processors do what they do which is why i`m going with two TwK D8`s and 8000 series Stinger RCA`s to the HD amps. I was on DIYMA reading what the guy from JL said about the VXi amps compared to the HD amps. He said they were close in THD but the HD`s still came out on top in their testing. l`m going with an HD600 in four channel mode to drive the GB25 & GB10, another HD600 in two channel more driving the GB60`s, another HD600 driving the rears and the center speaker which will be the GB40 if it`ll fit, and an HD750 for the subs. Yes`, i`ve heard that I really don`t need rear speakers and I would tend to agree with that about most vehicles but the F150 SuperCrew needs it and i`ve always been a front stage rear fill guy. I`ve already upgraded my electrical system but i`ll be paying a shop to do everything else because this type of system plus tuning is far beyond my abilities and that JL processor in expert mode is not for amateurs. I`m in Georgia and not very far from Hybrid Audio Technologies so i`m going to pay to have Scott or his son tune my system.

As an audio person off I always know more is capable and there are better ( used loosely and read more expensive 😂 ) speakers out there but I have been very impressed with my GB60/15 combo even when they weren’t set up correct from the first janky installer. Have had them on 3 DSP , Zapco Z8 IV II, Hertz H8, & Helix. As far as integration, SQ, ease of software Helix takes it. The Zapco sounds great as well. When I sounds great I really mean transparent and doesn’t effect the source audio. The hertz H8 is brighter like accentuated 1000 Hz and up. Also produced some small alt whine no matter how I grounded the unit or ran cables. Helix has the best remote as well. I still would recommend Zapco DSP IV II but I did have integration issues. I also recommend other speakers like Audible Physics, Scanspeak Illuminators, JL C7, Morel. I like balanced, transparent speakers that do t drastically color the source audio like a Focal or Audison. Just my taste & preference, SQ is subjective imo. Let me know if you have anymore questions.
